Passed over at work and numbed after she witnesses a colleague's murder, security guard Trixie Zurbo takes a relatively easy job at a lakefront casino, working undercover keeping an eye out for pickpockets. Trixie meets an assortment of colorful regulars: Kirk Stans, the casino's lounge act who drinks too much and is a dead-on mimic; Ruby Pearli , a glamorous, young and knowledgeable barfly; and Dex Lang, a raffish ladies' man who pays attention to Trixie in a way that's hard for her to ignore.

Nice effects though.

Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."

I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

This is a truly delightful comedy romp with a stunningly funny performance by the highly gifted Emily Watson. In her first funny role Watson is simply a delight and utterly brilliant. Her delivery and timing are impeccable and in this rare goofball role, she proves that comedy is certainly not beyond her talents. In fact, she may be one of the most incredibly funny women to appear in motion pictures in the last 25 years. What she does here is in Gracie Allen territory and she absolutely does justice to that great lady's legacy. A superb dramatic actor of limitless technical abilities and overwhelming emotional range, with two Oscar nominations for Best Actress, now Emily Watson becomes the queen of screen hilarity with this unforgettable comic turn. Don't miss it!

In a delightful comic turn, Emily Watson demonstrates clearly that she is not simply one of the great dramatic actors in cinema history. Giving a performance that rivals some of her most delightful work on stage while in residence at RADA in the early 1990's, Watson lights up the screen in a very funny, sexy characterization that will please those who have followed her stunning career with astonishment. Few actors could work so successfully with the rather lackluster material presented by this director and triumph over it, capturing our hearts completely. Viewers' hearts will melt as Watson breathes life into Trixie like a dynamo of acting energy that is almost atomic. This is an actor of unequaled talent, who blinds audiences with her brilliance, leaving those who appreciate great acting stunned by her power. While this is not a film to be noted at the top of her resume, Watson certainly proves once again how versatile an artist she truly is and her choices continue to astound audiences without exception, leaving all of us breathless and overwhelmed. The film deserves the low rating it receives here, but for Emily Watson's magnificent performance, a 10 is hardly close to what she truly deserves for commanding the screen, lighting up our hearts, and sharing her unlimited gifts with the audience. As Trixie, Watson delights as no other actor has ever cinematically delighted.

Emily Watson is a wonderful actress, capable of amazing things. This movie, on the other hand...I am not sure that there are words...This might be the worst film that I have ever watched without changing the channel. I only watched because I am that big an Emily Watson fan. But I've got to say, you needn't bother.

Ok - I have to admit....this movie was painful. Just painful to sit there and take all those mixed metaphors like punches to the head. BUT...I stumbled across this movie on a Sunday afternoon. Never heard of it..no expectations, etc. And actually had a good time watching it. My wife hated it (so she says) but we both laughed and kept rolling our eyes at each other throughout the movie. It was like reading a trashy novel...the characters were total stereotypes (the young, good looking womanizer (trying to have a heart of gold), the drunk, corrupt senator (always grabbing ass, etc) and of course the favorite - the bumbling, almost moronic detective making it all happen -kind of like a female Inspector Clouseau only with less physical humor and more verbal humor. Some of the words that came out of her mouth were really funny - like "I woke up unconscious" and my personal favorite, "Do you think I have a ace up my hole?" I wouldn't go out of your way to see this movie but if you come across it one afternoon....see how long you can stand it :)
