What is the problem here? Any science nerd who doesn't get a thrill from this -- hey I'll even give a fast forward or two -- maybe isn't really a science nerd. No, not really Great Science Fiction? Maybe not but this is more about the setting and the 'realistic' physicists, than the plot and the production. Or I would have just skipped the movie and moved on and not whined about some student movie not impressing me like Avatar. These are the people and equipment who actually DID discover the Higgs Boson, which made the entire physics Standard Model that has come out of relativity and quantum mechanics complete with its greatest confirmation ever!!! That was the culmination of 100 years of specific work on that model! The work done by these scientists and students at that lab -- NOT their movie production ability -- has become a meme that has been the subject of jokes for years. What nerd doesn't want ANY GLIMPSE of that actual accelerator which cost $13 BILLION dollars (so they can make a $2000 movie and show us the guts and their playing around in them???By contrast, not a single bit of String Theory has been backed up experimentally, regardless of how much you may like Michio Kaku. ;)I am a physics nerd, I took extra-bonus physics during my undergrad (electrical engineering) degree in the late 70's, back when Trekkies were all about Captain Kirk and i was more anti-Trekky then ... then around 1990 when working on my MSEE I took more physics, and I've used relativity both in my academic work and in my job in Bell Labs and Boeing Military. Now I've gone back to school at Wichita State University, so that I can learn what's new in physics. That's where I heard about this film. Our instructor was an experimental physicist at Fermilab in Illinois, which I then visited a few weeks ago. He knows some of these people personally, and the other day I brought in DVD's I got from Fermilab to give out to the classmates, and they mentioned this film Decay. It isn't intended to be Great Art for the Snobbery Critics; it's some actual nerds doing actual nerd imagination things at the most expensive nerd toy on the planet!!!REAL nerds will get what I mean, and were just waiting for this chance to pop up! Those who pointed this was a free film and it was with real stuff so that's a cool factor, thank you.Alan

It could have been great. Im sure MANY people are interested in the God particle and the LHC, however the subject matter is nothing more then the means of making a small and VERY cheap 28 Days Later. The acting is bloody awful. Of the 6 main cast members only 2 seem to be able to show emotion, the rest are practically reading off the page. The setting is obviously not at CERN. I have been to university and work security at a hospital and would bet money that the above ground CERN footage was shot at a university and the underground footage at the basement/ service/ car park/ and any linking tunnels of a hospital. One good thing though..... if the LHC were to f#$% up it we now know it wont destroy the world with a black hole, just create fast zombies. RELIEF!!!

As another reviewer said, its free to download and there is much worse on the Scifi channel! I came across it by accident while looking at a news article about something completely unrelated and found the whole idea of a movie made by physicists working with the LHC intriguing, so downloaded it. You have to keep in mind that this was an amateur production and as such is excellent quality, well edited, and a cool plot. The zombie theme may have been done many times over, but not like this.Despite the zombie theme it does have an air of realism to it, and its amazing to see the tunnel complex of the LHC which the general public do not get to see. I found it amusing and enjoyable to watch, and at no point did I think 'what a waste of time' and turn off as I have with so many other films, most of which fail to engage in the first ten minutes. Not so here - give it a chance - ten minutes in you will be hooked. Shaun of the Dead fans look out for the reference in the freezer at the start...

Remember This is costing you Nothing to get and watch. For a Free to download movie I have to give credit to the makers and actors. You have to take in account that these are not professional actors but physicists! & it was made for under $2000! (REALLY?) And to be fully honest I've seen MUCH worse on the SCFI channel!!!! Watch it with an Open mind and its rather enjoyable some of the effects are pretty good too. The guys in it are certainly not what the public idea of physicists are, and im sure there will be plenty of girls out there routing for the high IQ (in real life) actors. The plot is in theory plausible, because of the unknown nature of the subject matter.....we simply don't know enough about it to dismiss it, very clever as expected. All in all We liked it thanks to everyone involved :)
