I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.

a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.

A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

Pindari warrior, Prithvi Singh (Mithun Chakraborty) spent his younger days fighting against the British Rule. When his sons, Veer (Salman Khan) and Punya (Sohail Khan), come of age, he sends them to England to learn the ways of the British so as to fight them better. While there, Veer falls in love with an Indian princess, played by Zareen Khan. He returns to India determined not only to win her, but to overthrow her British-supported evil father (Jackie Shroff) as well. This action drama is an enjoyable one from start to finish. The plot is convoluted enough to be interesting, without being overly political. Most of the costumes, the Pindari in particular, look great, but the dresses of the British women always looked too flimsy and somehow inappropriate. The musical numbers were generally good, one tune particularly haunting, despite the fact that not all the songs or dances fit the time period. The action and fighting, with one exception, looked real and natural Chakraborty and Shroff were great in their supporting roles. Whether the fault of the actor or the script, Sohail Khan's role was too full of slap-stick comedy. Salman Khan played the hard warrior very well. Zareena Khan's role was minimal and somewhat two dimensional, but she certainly was lovely. Overall, it was an exciting and fun film and well worth watching.

Salman Khan's lean phase was during this time of his career, despite ending his flop streak with Wanted in 2009. He continued to give flops and a disaster until Dabangg which was the start of his blockbuster period. Salman Khan is one of the finest actors in Bollywood but this film was not the right kind of film for him. He does much better in Masala action films like Wanted and comedies like Partner. He even did much better films in the 90s but films like Veer brought his career down.Veer was an extremely hyped up movie, people were excited because it was supposed to be the next Gadar(2001). Sadly, all that hype was for nothing and yes, many people got disappointed. The film did average in single screens but it failed to show any growth at the multiplexes. Even at single screens, the collections dropped and the film became a disaster. The story of the film is actually not a bad effort, but the handling and the flow of the story is not up to mark. The start was good and Salman's entry was superb. However, the forced comedy and the romance doesn't fit well with the story. The second half goes downhill, its like they had an average first half and a horrible second half. The second half of the film focuses on revenge and how it is executed in a poor way. The ending is hilariously bad, Salman Khan gets shot but dies after a long battle. It is so messed up and it doesn't make sense how Khan doesn't die. Plus, the typical Father Vs Son nearing the ending where Mithun and Salman are forced to fight is straight out of 90s movies.Direction by Anil Sharma is poor, he seems to be stuck in his Hukumat days. These kind of films would have worked if they released earlier but, the film had to release now.Salman Khan is not at his best here, he overacts badly in some scenes but acts well in the action scenes. Sohail Khan is horrible in this film, he overacts in everything from comedy to sorrow. Zarine Khan is good looking but her acting is poor, her expressions are not well timed. Mithun Chakraborty does a fantastic job, he is the life of the film. Jackie Shroff is average, he is the villain. The rest provide average support. On the whole, Veer is an average film at its best. It wasn't an awful film but it wasn't anything great either.

Devoid of sense, meaning and far removed from reality , this movie has just about everything in it to keep the ANIL SHARMA Bandwagon rolling. We couldn't have expected anything else from the maker of legendary stuff like TAHALKA,FARISHTEY,APNE,AB TUMHARE HAWALE WATAN SAATHIYON....etc.Salman Khan told some dainty reporter that he had taken about a score of years to scribble down the story of VEER. The movie in every reel bears testimony to that fact. With loose ends in abundance and logic conspicuously absent the story hovers around idealistic concepts of Love,Patriotism,Revenge and Forgiveness. One striking thing about the story is that it never meanders down to the valley of unnecessary secrecy, self righteousness and over the top sacrificing deeds. This is in my books single handedly makes this movie great. No melodramatic sacrifices of love for country. No Father Son brawls over the son's love interests. In fact the only point where such conflicts and hence the self sacrificing trait emerge are for a cause which is downright stupid and a living example of how gullible can a Director expect his audience to get. Each scene is as far removed from it's preceding brother as Eskimoes are from the Arabs. Not once in the movie does the brain get bothered and when it does it is because of the empty popcorn bag which was devoured greedily by the man himself. The acting is equally non-onerous . Leaving no space for critical comments to pour in. The dialogues represent the best of light hearted , brain dead revelry .The music is decent enough and varies from the loud "Taali " to the soft "Salaam Aaya".The girl who makes her debut does a fine job ( given the script she had to content herself with). The cinematography was good, I admit. The sets better.Salman is at his best ( in whatever he does ).Mithun and Sohail prove to be able supporting heroes. There are however some doubts still lingering in my mind 1. Why were the costumes of the people in London resembling those of a cheap Broadway commercial made to mock 19th century sensibilities? 2. Why can't Jackie Shroff become better with age? 3. What was Neena Gupta's role in the movie? 4. How did the entire Production Team and Direction squad pull this one off? 5. What was the force which compelled me to watch this movie ? Whatever may be the answers to these questions I can tell you one thing for sure: This movie didn't trouble my brain 's sinews . nor did it pretend that it was intelligent.I sat there for the entire length and left the hall a happy and carefree person.

I have just finished watching the movie and was truly entertaining. Salman khan dialogs ,emotions and fighting scenes were truly worth watching. The movie has a terrific romantic story. Mithun Chakraborty is good as always. It is Salman best work and shows that he can produce movies that r marvelous. I have not seen any fantastic fight and bravery that was shown in the movie. From the first scene to the last scene , the movie kept me as a glue to my seat. It's a mixture of love ,hate, anger and pride. Nothing stopped me from watching this film. Really, I enjoyed this movie.
