Fantastic!
A Disappointing Continuation
One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.
When Indian Potentate Arthur Holmes-Gore spots Edna Flugrath at a Regimental Dance, he decides she must be his. She, however, loves English captain Vincent Clive. Being a vicious Oriental, Holmes-Gore points his favorite dacoit at Clive and orders his death. Dacoits aren't what they used to be, so he thinks he is supposed to kill the beauteous Edna. Most of the value in this vicious melodrama is from the question of whether the murderer can be swerved from his mistaken path in time. Other than that, the only noteworthy matter is the presence of Miss Flugrath, who was the sister of Viola Dana and Shirley Mason, two better-remembered stars of silent movies.
