Joachim's Dictionary (1965)
A light-hearted animated romp through the alphabet, with each letter identified by both a word and a visual interpretation of that word, by the crudely-drawn Joachim.

To me, this movie is perfection.
This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.
One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.
The acting in this movie is really good.
Le dictionnaire de Joachim (1965) ** 1/2 (out of 4) This nine-minute animated short from Walerian Borowczyk tells the French alphabet using a word and then we see that word acted out. The animation is quite simple as each letter has the same drawing of the same man and then we see it altered to fit the word. At nine-minutes I thought this was a somewhat interesting film but at the same time it's subject got old rather quickly so by the time you get to the end you feel rather bored. I thought the animation was about as simple as you could get but it fit nicely with the material. There's certainly much better shorts out there but if you're a fan of the director then this is worth watching.
