Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.

This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.

It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

It's 2015 and I am watching this show slowly in my own time. I am loving it!! Of course it helps I adore traveling myself and oh, yes, Ewan McGregor!! But he and Charlie and wonderful mates and the idea of the show is a wonderful ride with them on their motorcycles. I was upset about Ewan getting gasoline IN his eye and then very upset about him getting some sort of insect bite that swelled up around his forehead. The film was done quite a while ago so everything turned out fine, but, jeez, could have been bad, not to mention they were harassed by a bunch of thugs in Khazakstan. I was not surprised to learn from Charlie that Ewan feels things deeply. I roared in laughter when they got painful massages in Khazakstan by 2 sumo wrestler type guys in speedo's. Hilarious!! My ONLY criticism of this series they devote their lives to is, someone chose the WORST music supervisor!! Dear LORD a fantastic opportunity was missed to create an atmosphere worthy of music, journey and visuals and the majority of the music SUCKS!!!

I loved Long Way Round for MANY reasons. But possibly the most compelling element, surprisingly, had little to do with travel... it is the genuine affection and friendship shared by these two guys. I've had many good friends during my wonderful life... but nothing like what these two have. They truly care about each other and have a fantastic time hanging out, and giving each other hell, of course. The video diaries were exceptionally good - they dealt with feelings of insecurity, depression, irritation, worry, fear, and fatigue. I watched many scenes twice and destroyed an entire weekend watching the whole series non stop.

Absolutely brilliant, excellent or every other superlative! I bought the DVD and every time I finished an episode I got the feeling deep inside to go into garage take my bike and start a trip like that - it creates that yearning inside to do the same thing - really unbelievable. Both Charley and ( superstar ) Ewan McGregor are that naturally guys - they are so likable. It is so funny to listen to there conversation, they are joking during the whole time even when they completely destroyed because of the unexpected circumstances. I felt like watching close friends and there keeps a kind of emptiness inside when the DVD is finished ... Absolutely have to be seen!!! I finished the DVD some hours ago and I could start watching again just right now.

OK I am a hardcore sport bike rider with a little off road riding thrown in. To be honest I knew Ewan better for his narration of the movie FASTER, about MotoGP, than for his acting roles. I bought the book and DVD not really knowing much about the story or journey. Both my wife, who is not interested in motorcycles, and I loved the DVD. We both loved seeing the different lands and cultures they rode through. Also it was great to see how they were so constantly welcomed and helped by those they met on the trip. What made the production entertaining was the great editing, and Charlie and Ewan who were interesting and funny. If you like travel and adventure then see "Long Way Round". Then start thinking about getting a bike:)
