It was OK. I don't see why everyone loves it so much. It wasn't very smart or deep or well-directed.
Back when men wore big floppy hats and waistcoats (but no overcoats), our handsome hero travels from town to town searching for the most beautiful girl in the land of long ago and far away. His name is Pista, and is played by the Czech version of Lee Majors (Milan Knazko). During the early stages of this tale the spirit of his grandfather appears to be guiding his way (but only when no one is looking). So you see, fairy tales do not have to revolve around little children, but they do have to feature some degree of magic and the search for true love.One village has so many women fighting over the six million dollar Pista that he can't make a choice. Other women he fancies are either married already or have a father who wants to steal his horse. But as soon as he meets an old geezer who is a dead ringer for his departed granddad we can tell he is on the right trail. Elderly actor Bohumil Vávra has got a bit of a Donald Pleasance vibe going on. If Pleasance had dubbed this part, I'm sure people would not have have known the difference. Strangely enough this incarnation of grandpa does not look so old when compared to the woman he's married to. At long last there she is: Orina, the best looking girl ever (Elena Dimitrova). Or at least the one with the most beautiful eyes if you believe the title (personally I would have gone for Elena from the first village). Of course the quest does not end there. Orina only appears for one hour each day between noon and one. The rest of the time she's a ...wait for it.... big black chicken. Lets hope Pista does not turn into a frog and gets eaten by her. When the Pista-man gets into a fight with some jealous guy, his hot chick forces herself to transform into human form at night. But breaking her routine means she can never see him like this again. He still takes her back to his village to get married. Not surprisingly, his former admirers start taking the Pista out of him. Will there be a happy ending? Of course there will. I bet she can even magically turn up in a white wedding gown at the very last minute and look a bit like Lysette Anthony when she does. Oops. sorry about that spoiler.6 out of 10
