If you don't like this, we can't be friends.
It is not deep, but it is fun to watch. It does have a bit more of an edge to it than other similar films.
If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.
It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.
This movie is a kind of documentary relating the early history of the Eiffel Tower: From the planning to its first military use. The movie mixes scenes played by actors, cheap CGI views of the Eiffel tower being built, still images from back then, not to forget French Cancan performances. For the *charm of Paris* thing probably. Some interesting points are covered such as technical building stuff, Panama Canal connexion. I had 1 or 2 smiles at historical points: a nepotist politician, the construction halted twice with workers on strike... so cliché of France! Main annoying point: the narrator tends to explain a point just before the scene is played by actors. Maybe you wanna know more about the building, the man (Gustave Eiffel) or the Parisian 1890s fashion? Then this documentary is for you. Otherwise, you could easily find a worthier movie.
