Watching "The Witness," there was never a moment dull moment. This film made me question what the media puts out. It has taught me to question everything, and to not believe everything I read. This film tells the story of Kitty Genovese, who was murdered while she was walking home from work in Queens, New York in 1964. Bill Genovese investigates the murder of his sister to find out the truth about what happened that night, and why the media gave the readers of the New York Times false information.

'The Witness' was an informative story with the intended audience being people who want to learn more information about the infamous Genovese case. The main purpose of this documentary is to inform the audience about missed details about the Genovese case, and to give insight into what members of the family were going through at that time/ are still going through today. The director seems to want people to never stop searching for the truth, if it means a lot to you. I knew a little bit about this case before watching the documentary but a lot of details were messy for me. This documentary is about the murder of Catherine 'Kitty' Genovese and the path her brother, Bill, takes to bring some light to the actual events that occurred on the night she was killed. Bill contacted many people who supposedly witnessed the events of March 13th, and tried to find the truth. One thing that really stood out in this documentary, were the visuals that were used to convey certain scenarios that interviewees were talking about in that moment. The sketches that were used were very detailed and grabbed my attention every time they popped up on the screen. Every interview that was in the documentary was informative and helped add to the story. I knew at least half of the information that was in the documentary before I watched it. It helped form a more cohesive storyline for me. I would highly recommend this documentary for people who are interested in learning more about this case.

The Witness, seeks to explore the truth behind Kitty Genovese's murder. Despite the public story, the truth of the matter is widely unknown. As Bill Genovese, brother of Catherine "kitty" Genovese, searches for truth, he uncovers shocking details that the original New York Times failed to mention. Images of the scene, numerous interviews, and a powerful reenactment in the exact locations of the attacks painted a clearer picture of what occurred that night. Already familiar with the case, this film answered many of my questions, but managed to leave some lingering. For instance, what goes through a sociopath's head like Moseley? This emotional work was phenomenal at portraying Kitty as a vivacious human being versus a character in a tragic story. The most exceptional thing about this film was its ability to convey such strong emotions and show the importance of journalism and its influence in this case. Highly recommend.

"The Witness" is definitely an emotional movie and I truly feel bad for Bill Genovese and his family. The purpose of this documentary was to help explain what happened to Kitty Genovese. You get to see what some of the witnesses actually saw and heard during the murder. The interviews and camera work were very well done. Before I watched the movie I knew about what happened and how it really wasn't 38 eyewitnesses. Although it was very emotional, especially the ending, I did not like the movie. I expected to end up with answers but instead felt like it just left more questions. Why investigate the murders now 50 years after the fact? Why not do it earlier, when there probably would have been more answers. It seemed that the people that turned down to be interviewed, like Moseley and Kitty's husband, had already moved on and didn't want to reopen old wounds. I feel like this movie was a waste of time as I did not learn anything knew after watching the movie and just felt bad that Bill Genovese wasn't able to get the closure he might have wanted.
