This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.

first things first the older brother is a linebacker? smallest linebacker I've ever seen. awful acting. sad story? ya sure but my god is it cheesy. its a straight to DVD/ TV movie. don't waste your time. if you want your football fix go watch Friday night lights. even the story behind the name "the 5th quarter" made me laugh my ass off, because the deceased brothers number was number 5. filled with football stock footage that doesn't look legit at all. this could very well be one of the worst movies I have ever seen. you can honestly make a drinking game out of the cheesy cringe worthy lines but you would be plastered before you even got half way through the movie.

I could write a myriad of things that others have written about this movie. But to be honest, it would just waste your time. There are definitely a lot of Christian spiritual moments in this movie. What disappoints me, is with a 6mil budget, I was expecting some actual game recreation using the actors. Not a whole bunch of extremely low-resolution video clips of actual games from that year cut in between scenes with the actual actors. It's pretty put-offing. Just my two cents. The movie itself is done really well, and the acting is also performed at a top level (IMO), however, the use of these actual gameday clips seems forced and out of play from the rest of the movie, and it seems to remove me to the point I just can't get into it.

Only a score of 5 would be suitable, but the movie itself deserves much higher than what it has received. I had originally only wanted to see this because Ryan Merriman was in it and it was a sports movie. After watching this movie and reading all the negative comments I had to write my first review and say this movie is really worth the watch. Aidan Quinn IMO put on an Oscar worthy performance. I honestly have not had so many tears watching a movie and it was because he made you feel the pain in a fathers heart. The moment he met the woman who received Lukes heart will stick with me for a long time.PLEASE don't let the negative views and low score deter you from watching this film.

I don't understand the negative reviews. Please watch this movie and see for yourself. I thought the actors did a fantastic job. I have never seen a father's love portrayed so beautifully as Aiden Quinn showed in this movie. Men do not often show such tenderness but he brought such an endearing character to life for me. Andie McDowell was the perfect choice to play the mother in this film. You could just tell how proud she was of her three sons and how hard she was holding on for the entire family. I fell in love with all three of the sons and felt the two surviving sons each brought a unique reaction to the tragic loss of their brother. Bring a box of tissues and let all of your teenage children watch this! We need to teach our children how one bad decision can alter the rest of our lives and the lives of others that we care about.
