Instead of really living her life since losing her mother at age 7, Seattle lawyer Amy Myer sticks to a foolproof 'timeline' her mother drew as a guideline to help plot the course of her life. The timeline, which proves to be accurate in all other respects, predicts that Amy should marry her seventh boyfriend. However, Amy must question her instincts when she feels that her sixth boyfriend is the one she should marry, not the predicted seventh. Now she must decide whether to follow her mother's advice, or follow her own heart.

I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.

what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

The helpful direction the dying give you, in an effort to help you think about the future, really does weigh on you once they're gone. You hold onto it thinking you're holding onto them and yet you have to challenge yourself to get on with the life you want for yourself. This film's lead character experiences that, struggles with it, trying hard to stick to the map her mother left her for her life. Throughout it reminded me to move on so I could appreciate the film for that alone. However Kimberly Williams is very good in her role, alternately type-A and ditsy, and Patrick Dempsey is also really good and his character the sweet but strong man most hetero women - and gay men - wish for (for all Grey's Anatomy "McDreamy" fans, it's worth watching!) and the scenery in and around Sooke Harbour House lovely (so want to move there).Yes, I'd watch it again! And probably again, in a few years, just as a reminder...

if you're at home on a Saturday afternoon not particularly doing anything this is a GREAT movie to watch. its sensitivity, happy ending, and cute story line will transport you straight to i-wish-i-were-as-lucky-as-her world. So maybe it's not action-packed and full of large sets, but it's really nice. just one of those feel-good movies you blink tears away of at the end of the movie. and can i say this movie, unlike so many others, is actually Believable? i mean in other movies you either hang off the Brooklyn Bridge waiting for Spidey to come pick you up or wait till some sleazy politician falls in love with you. a definite recommended watch!!

Bored on a Sunday afternoon, I chose to watch this movie on cable. As it turns out, the flick was good but not great. Basically it is a typical cable movie where guy likes girl, girl ignores him & dates another, guy asks her out, romantic high jinks ensue. The film begins with a 7 1/2 year old Amy painting in the dining room. Eventually she heads out to the patio and has a sweet talk with her dying mother. It is here that her mother offers a time line for Amy to follow as she grows older, including the idea that Amy marry boyfriend number 7. Then the movie segues to Amy, aged 27. Now she's a lawyer who hates her job and is still clinging to her mothers "guide to life." Soon, we meet Peter the Bagel Boy & David. Naturally a love triangle follows and boyfriend number 6 wins.At times Amy simply annoyed me with her twenty-year-old obsession withe the timeline & David appeared too perfect. However, I did like Peter, as his character appeared to be the most realistic. If you're looking for a light and fluffy way to pass an hour or so, go ahead and watch. Otherwise, get off the couch and vacuum or take a nap.

Wow! This movie is great! I loved it so much that I saw it again right after I got done watching it the first time. I like Patrick Dempsey's character because he's charming and sweet. I really like this movie and I wouldn't mind seeing it again over and over. I don't think I could ever get sick of watching this movie.
