The film was still a fun one that will make you laugh and have you leaving the theater feeling like you just stole something valuable and got away with it.

Do not be fooled by those who rate this movie anything higher than 3/10. Either they have suffered like the rest of us watching this movie and only seek to draw others into their own personal hell, or they truly saw some redeeming quality in this movie and so are not to be trusted as they are a danger to themselves and others. As a fan of "bad" movies I can say that this one is a masterpiece. I will only summarize what other reviewers have so eloquently detailed in their reviews...terrible, terrible plot, acting, dialogue, characterization, locations, sets, special effects, production values, and bad, bad science. There are "good" bad movies and there are "bad" bad movies...this is the latter. You have been warned.

As another reviewer pointed out, this is a horribly flawed story by a completely insane statist (of the leftist variety). The sci-fi aspect is just the vehicle for the soap-box treatment. He tries to teach us how the government is perfect, the answer to everything, and every individual must subvert himself to the reigning authority. What a sick world.If you don't notice this aspect of the movie, you're lucky. Really, this is 3 or 4 short movies of 3 or 4 genres, glued together into one Frankenstein monster. The 3-way relationship at the core of the story was horrible, and had no place in a movie like this (except to add pointless minutes and irrelevant forced tension).The sci-fi part was extremely lame too, sadly. Not at all convincing.Not many, but a few of the actors were competent. I feel sorry for them. I also feel sorry for the producers and special-effects folks, who also did quite competent jobs. Sad to see so much talent wasted on a seriously stupid story.

He is correct about the discrepancies in delays of data transmissions, the heat and that puny Scaler drive system which I still am incapable of wrapping my head around, physics is a subject way beyond me. From my reckoning the Scaler drive system, I believe due to the fact it is fiction, thus pseudoscience even if is spelled differently than the imbecile Screen Writers spelled it is of no relevance. I digress, my most accurate approximation it is a Ion drive, or something very close. Said reviewer is absolutely correct without some kind of energy force field that ship and it's tiny little engine would have burnt up way before it got that close to the Sun. Was watching it on Netflix, like if that should not have alerted me to the fact how bad the movie would be. Damn! If I press the Home button of this Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 to reduce to go back to Netflix application to confirm their number scale rating system I will lose all details of my opinion of the viewpoints by another to the movie. If I recall Netflix uses a scale of 1-5, and apparently more than 50% of those who rated gave it a 3, the other 50% dropping it to a 2. Whoever designed the software for Netflix are morons, because their software is not compatible at least not for accessing their online support staff from the domain, because whenever I attempt the process I am informed that I need to download the most recent version of Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Safari, my browser being Chrome, believe my tablet is set to automatically download any recent versions. I was informed by Samsung representative 1 working the Samsung Smart device section at the local Best Buy that to Chat with a Netflix representative online you need to do so through the Application, she tried to show me how, but I forgot, do not feel like a complete idiot considering I spoke with another Samsung rep. and was clueless as well. Has no 1 noticed this movie could very well pass as a made for Sy-Fy Network movie if it were not for the length of it. Never heard of a made for Sy-Fy Network that ran longer than an hr. and 40/45 minutes, but then again I ceased watching their poorly written, directed, produced, characters poorly portrayed character movies a long time ago.

A Canadian Production released in Sweden about an American space program? OK now! But seriously if you can wrap your head around that bit of info, you will find it to be a very good science fiction movie on the order of Independence Day. The lead actors were strong and well played by David James Elliott (as Commander Don Wincroft)and Anthony Lemke (as Dr. Craig Bakus). To sum it up without giving away any spoilers, the Earth suffers a disaster sparked by an accident aboard the maiden flight of the first commercial spaceflight to the moon and back. They technically are to fly around the moon and then come back to Earth. Of course something goes wrong and...well lets just say that it doesn't go exactly as plan.From the very beginning of the nearly three hour movie the viewer becomes engaged with the characters and engrossed in the scientific aspects of the situation. (As a side note, just before I watched this with my wife, I read an article that said that the sun could actually be detonated on purpose by us people using today's technology!)All in all, I felt it to be a great three hour film to watch with your loved one on a lazy Friday night in the middle of summer!
