Highly Overrated But Still Good

Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.

absolute brain f@#K of a movie. To maintain your sanity please for the love of all that is holy and dear in your life stay away from this movie. The movie has no great songs, no great acting, paltry storyline. Instead you get plastic doll acting from Ms. Kaif, same all-romantic-well known-ddlj-style of acting from SRK and others fill in the gaps. The cameo by Anushka was the biggest F$%k all of the movie. What a dumb girl! I paid the price due to my optimistic outlook in life, hoping that the movie would get better at some point. I died a little that day. What crappy movie.I guess the best I could do is to warn others to not do the same mistake as me.

Since the release of Jab Tak Hain Jaan, I had been told to watch it. "It is such a great move, Yaar.", "Qasam se Yaar…. It is very good film.", they kept telling me, followed by consistent follow ups whether I did or not. Eventually I decided to give it a try. It was horrible.Dear Shah Rukh Khan fans, When Shah Rukh Khan is in a movie, it doesn't automatically make it a good movie. It is a fact of life that you have to deal with somehow.Adding to my shock was Katrina Kaif's performance. It was the first Katrina Kaif movie I watched, I think (unless I have seen one that was so bad that I no longer remember). Jab Tak Hai Jaan. It's not good because it's last indulgent attempt of Yash Chopra. It is good because Yash Chopra had the ability to adapt his love stories to changing times. His hero has still the old soul of undying love but one of his heroine is straight from the generation from 21st century. Every love story has a villain who does not like lovers to be close to each other, here he is God himself. The story has three acts, first riding on confident performance of Shahrukh Khan, second act riding on soulful energy of Anushka Sharma but third act is where writer and directors find themselves in confused state and let the story fill with few silly twists. Movie works because it has soul, neat characterization, uncluttered screenplay and nice background score but it is let down by average work by A.R.Rahman and Gulzar in songs by their standards and the average performance by Katrina Kaif which could have been a killer performance if played by some better talent. Nevertheless, it is a nice love story to enjoy once for sure.

The movie, being the last directed movie of the well-known director Yash Chopra, was predicted to be a glorious one. But, things didn't quite work out in the right manner. The story doesn't seem to win the audience's attentiveness. It was neither too good nor too bad.When it comes to performances, Shah Rukh Khan was mediocre, not much emphasizing. Katrina Kaif looked gorgeous, but couldn't influence much with her acting skills. Anushka Sharma was pleasing and satisfying. Scenes involving her were watchable.Yash Chopra's direction, needless to mention, was decent as ever. The music which had contributions from prominent personalities like AR Rahman (music director) and Gulzar (lyricist) was expected to be much, much more excelling, but was moderate.You may or may not adore the movie, it depends on the kind of movie you prefer watching. For me, it was another typical romantic flick.
