The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.

It is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

As with most, I'd heard about this movie and finally had the time to watch it. In the end, I found it to be a gratuitous, pretentious pile of crap that had the potential to work but Palumbo got lazy and didn't keep a consistent thread...outside of nudity, gore and pointless shock. Case in point: If you're opening with 9/11, make the goddamn film relevant to 9/11. I saw literally no reason for the footage to be in there outside of "oooooh, I'm being edgy!" Did 9/11 spark this rampage? Obviously not. The Photographer was a psychopath well before that. Is Palumbo trying to tie the carnage on screen to 9/11? Nope. Is Palumbo trying to say that no Jews died during 9/11 and make a Nazi tie-in that way? Nope. So, why use it? Oh. Right. Marketing. The Nazi tie-in was interesting. I was hoping to see more of how this was an influence. That would have been more interesting than the final product. Maybe it was in German. But I don't speak German. So I'll never know. As it stands, it just kind of fades in and out. The Nazi guy just kind of shows up and...goes away. There's no sense of who The Photographer is outside of a psychopath. There's literally no real human relation in this movie outside of the woman and her sister and that's pretty thin, too. What happened to the parents? No idea. Anyway, women are just props for Palumbo to kill and men are just the vehicles to kill them with. That's basically it for characters. It started promisingly but devolved pretty quickly. The turning point for me came with The Photographer starts spouting misogynistic crap to the girl in front of her sister and the sister doesn't even react. Worse, she doesn't even seem to have noticed, since she yells at the girl when she calls The Photographer creepy. There's some good drama there but it gets in the way of slaughtering women so...why bother with it? I read in his bio that Palumbo was raised by his dad. He said something to the effect of "if you want to know about my childhood, watch Kramer v Kramer." Which about says it all. MSP is basically a mommy-issue movie.

This movie info says it was made in 2004. The audio and visual is like a 1987 home made movie so perhaps it took this long to get this piece of crap made/released. This loser weirdo who is a photographer kills the girls he takes pictures of. Then he goes to a store to get a VHS rental of a snuff filmed called Nutbag. Lol. Is this a horror or comedy?? Who can say?The acting and music is like a really sad porn flick. It's almost like you can't even pay attention long enough to follow the plot (wait? There's a plot?? I 'm sure there is I just don't know what it is. Lol ). Even the main character's mutton chops are severely dated.Beyond a waste of time.

You cannot have avoided the hype, and subsequent 'fan' abuse surrounding this film. Refused by three editing studios, 200 litres of blood used and over 30 deaths; this film caused somewhat of a stir it would seem. Now, as you have probably gathered from my other reviews, I do not care about director reputations or hype, I judge films from their own merits and this is exactly what I'm going to do here, so cast aside any preconceived prejudice and read on with an open mind. With statistics like those mentioned above plus the admitted use of real prostitutes this film was clearly aiming to be one of bad taste. This fact, coupled with a $2 million budget and the recruitment of the 'Toe Tag' team (made famous from the 'August Underground' films) on special effects should really set this film apart from countless of its lower budget 'amateur' peers. I was looking forward to it....If its gore you want then this is your film. However, as bloody as it may be, don't be fooled by comparisons such as 'Maniac'. This film just doesn't feel as insane or brutal as that; if it's that sort of depravity you are seeking then I think you might be disappointed with M.S.P. It's got all the right ingredients tons of misused women, gratuitous nudity and violence, rape, child murder and there's even a bit of anti semitism thrown in for good measure, and, oh yeah, the murderers a Nazi whose grandfather was friends with none other than Mr Hitler himself. I mean to jest because rather than actually being offensive it feels a bit over the top. They really couldn't have aimed to offend any more people.Read the full review at: beyondthegore

Murder Set Pieces is regarded as a twisted, sick, ultra violent and sadistic movie and rightly so. The problem is the production, acting and lack of emotion make it look like the director was just trying to see how much he could get away with and forgot to include a good story line to go with it. Sure there are some genuinely disturbing scenes but all the performances seemed devoid of emotion or even interest (Tony Todd looking at you). Its hard to find any positive points to this movie. Sure it pulls no punches when it comes to graphic depiction of violence but is that really enough to satisfy a viewer (i hope not). To conclude if you feel inclined to watch a degrading, nasty movie this might be for you, however i seriously doubt you will enjoy it.
