While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

Trembling camera, darkness and greyness of station, bald skulls, psychedelic music, nanotechnologies, strange organisms - all this is not immerses you in the movie but rather annoys, creates a sense of pretentiousness, grotesque of observed on the screen. It is not clear why resort to such vulgar and, moreover, hackneyed painting. The movie would have benefited from a serious realism, but it seems grotesque and theatricality, a disease not only of French literature, but also of French cinema. However the director wanted to tell us a lot - about the cruelty of Buddhism, the inhumanity of corporations and wickedness of people, and that it is not clear who is worse - prisoners or guards and, perhaps, the door between them was high time to open. And that even in the brutal hell you can show kindness and dedication by overcoming darkness in yourself and, thus, reducing the size of hell or destroy it as the "Saint George".4 out of 10

Argh! OK, I am french Canadian. I have seen a lot a french movies, most of them I find are boring... but not all. In my book, Caro and Jeunet are the most able to provide a movie better than the "let's converse over a diner" we see so often. But maybe those two should leave sci-fi alone. In Dante 01 (from Caro), you will find the prisoners from Alien3 in the Alien:Resurrection set, with people all around that speak but never say anything but hollow babble. And boy that Chinese girl is bad. Really awful. Please stop acting, if ever you call that acting. Get a job at Burger King, whatever. That's it. Oh, yes, that is a movie that features SFX that are OK in Dr Who or The outer Limits, but these are TV shows, right?

This movie looks great but there isn't anything worthwhile happening to sustain the viewer's interest for more than five minutes. It joins THX-1138, Alien 3, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Alien Nation, and The Coneheads on the list of sci-fi pictures with bald women in the cast, not very original. Having the characters bald to represent dehumanization is a stale idea whose time has past. The whole movie is as cold as outer space. Nobody in the film generates anything resembling sympathy. The whole thing is so uninteresting that I really didn't care who the stranger (in a strange land) was or how he got his mysterious powers. It's a real shame because the special effects were great, with the exception of the shots of the microscopic robots traveling through the bloodstream. They looked like they were done on a personal computer. The attempts by the director to show off were as pretentious as the movie was on a whole.

The whole story is set in a space shuttle which is being used as a medical research centre, far from the earth with a psychiatrist and a few guardians in charge of 7 convicts. Some of them are murderers some of them are psychopaths. As the story progresses a genetic engineer woman comes to the space shuttle with a secret experiment.A strange, mysterious new convict is delivered to the space shuttle who is very sick, dumb, bald and has no identity....One of the convicts begins believing that this sick, unknown man is the Messiah sent from God; and he gives him a name of a Saint. The convicts fall apart into 2 confronting sides and once things start breaking down the film becomes very enjoyable.I love strong character films. Only trouble is that it is slightly confusing when the genetic engineer woman injects the immortality virus into some of the convicts' bodies. just before she is going to watch their change and our strange mute guy shows up and takes the immortality virus out of their bodies by eating it.... creepyI felt this was a really enjoyable film but if you don't like Pseudo Religious meanings in a film this is not the one for you- I felt like there was going to be a monster but there wasn't so if you try not to expect some big monster reveal or aliens you'll enjoy it more! Enjoyable overall though and great acting and characterisation.
