Two centuries after Snow White and Cinderella had their adventures, the Nine Kingdoms ready themselves for the coronation of Prince Wendel, Snow White's grandson, to the throne of the Fourth Kingdom. But an evil once-queen has freed herself from prison, and turns the prince into a golden retriever. Wendel, by means of a magic mirror, escapes into a hitherto-unknown Tenth Kingdom (modern day New York City) and meets Virginia and her father Tony. Pursued by trolls, cops, and a wolf in man's form, the three blunder back into the Nine Kingdoms and begin their adventures to restore Wendel to his human form and throne, and find the magic mirror that will take Tony and Virginia back home, all the while unknowing that Virginia already has a connection to the Nine Kingdoms that may prove deadly before we reach Happily Ever After.

This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.

The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

The 10th kingdom is long... 7 hours long... Is it worth it though? Yes and No, the film is a re-telling of all the classics fairy tales and nursery rhymes but the twist is that they are all connected to each other in one way or another. Think Once upon a time without the headache inducing family tree they have going on and you'll get the picture.This one is hard to review because DVD which is the first 1/3 of the movie is really boring, whatever you think will happen will actually happen, there is no clever twist or interesting dialog.The visuals are lovely and very colourful but the effects haven't aged well. I almost stopped watching half way through the first DVD but my friend egged me on.To it's credit it does get better as you get to the second DVD, the characters of the fairy tales are more alive and our heroes become part of the story not just outsiders to it.There are better movies out there for this genre and considering the running time of this movie I would rate it as white bread. It's not the best thing on the shelf but it's not the worst either and if you want to spend a little quality time with loved ones on a rainy day then it's a good movie to pop in.

I love this movie, it goes above and beyond on attention to detail. Every stitch and scene is planned to the letter. The casting was spot on too, you can relate to pretty much every character in the movie. I love how it takes traditional fairy tales most of us grew up with and takes a whole new spin on them. I can watch ti over and over. The only drawback was it could have had a sequel, since the ending was semi open, and it never did. But even without it, it's a great story. Everyone delivers. Some things might be too scary for younger children, but the movie overall is no worse than the Grimm Fairy tales I used to read as a kid. It's a delight. You'll be hooked.

This movie is one of the best epic fantasy film I've ever watched!! 'Stardust' started the epic fantasy hype for me and this movie spurred the momentum even more when I watched it the second time recently. The storyline is absolutely beautiful! Just like 'Prison Break', there are lots of twists and turns in the story and that keeps you at the edge of your seat from the beginning to the end. The 'hatred' and 'love' relationship between the characters is also complex and enjoyable to see. I don't understand why NBC won't pick up for a second season... I've first watched this in New Zealand actually 8 years ago but I still remember the views were really high during the airing week... The opening sequence of the movie must have been the most beautiful piece I have ever seen!! Great special effects and the idea is very original. The theme song is very touching and they couldn't have pick a better theme song. I definitely recommend you watch this if you can, you won't waste your time. If you enjoyed 'Stardust', then you'll definitely enjoy this one..!!! ^^

I first saw this when it originally aired on television. At the time I was in seventh grade. I will turn twenty tomorrow. Wow, so long ago. I believe this mini series is just fantastic. All of your childhood fairy tales are in it and told in a modern way. Wolf is just amazing and Kimberly Williams Paisley(now a mother!) is just drop dead gorgeous. Their performances and witty slapstick comedy/romance will get you going all throughout the nine kingdoms. I recommend that everyone see this at least once. Strangely enough, this movie is in my top ten. I found it on DVD used at FYE. Keep searching and you can find it. I also found the paperback used online.
