It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

Not sure how, but this is easily one of the best movies all summer. Multiple levels of funny, never takes itself seriously, super colorful, and creative.

This is a slightly schizo movie....with excellent elements, and then some seemingly randomly inserted flashbacks apropos nothing!! The acting is great, if slightly stereotypical of genre...think Lock Stock... but hugely entertaining. The soundtrack is excellent, reminiscent of a decade, and full of portent....very clever. And then we have the flashbacks!!! At times it seemed as if there was two directors pulling the movie in different directions, or as another reviewer suggested, that it was edited to death. In either case, I think the movie survived the mauling, and comes through, slightly disheveled, but watchable...

This is an old school London cops'n'robbers number a la The Long Good Friday.Carlisle is superb as the guy who used to follow his heart, but now knows better. In fact, I'm going to take a short-cut here: there are no bad performances in this. Nutcase, Julie (Phil Davis)and gravelly Winstone are tops, and even fresh-faced "looks like bundles to me" Albarn does no harm.Like a great episode of THE SWEENEY mangled-up in an Edgar Wallace Mystery, with all mod cons (e.g., brutal violence) this is a must see for genre fans. And it's an eyebrow raiser for those who thought that late 90's London couldn't turn this sort of thing out.

I for one am a great lover of London films, this movie has the same Filmer's (if i can call them that) as Love Honour and Obey. One of my old friends who is from the states, but lived over in the UK when we were at school recommended this to me. Dash is his name. I cant thank him enough, well anyway if you like these films, you have got to get hold of this one, why oh why is this not in the top 250 beats me, Also, how the hell have i missed this.well rant over, just watch it and enjoy, okay okay its a bit far-fetched in parts, but that makes the film. sound track is great as well. top notch

What a big dissapointment this movie was.... First of all I liked all the actors : Robert Carlyle, Ray Winstone, Gerry Conlon and it was definitely interesting to see Blursinger Damon Albarn as actor too and secondly I normally like British movies a lot... But everything is destroyed by director Antonio Bird (famous for "Priest") as this scenario is suffocating... All you get are nice dialogues but it's just like some scenes that are thrown into one movie and due to this you never feel any affection with the play, what you see is what you get but normally I wanna identify myself with the actors when I see British movies, this was more like "Heat" with a very low budget.
