Just perfect...

Excellent but underrated film

It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny

This film expertly reels you into the life of a man who is confused about himself. Unusually with gay films I really felt a sense of understanding with the main character, he is afraid of losing everything he has built on the risk that is Kay. However we know and he knows, that Kay is the man who he really loves. We can see the contrast in Marc's life when he's with Kay. He is happier, more carefree and sensitive. This is beautifully shown in the more intimate scenes of the film that succeed in portraying the true love in their relationship.I must admit the ending left me craving for more, however I think this shows that the film was good if it made me really care about what happens to the characters. I gladly await the sequel!

Freier Fall is a masterpiece of epic proportions, and all other films pale in comparison. In every possible way, the film is far superior to its predecessors (i.e., Brokeback Mountain). It's clear to see early on that every detail had been decided carefully and deliberately. It is more than a cerebral film. It is well-crafted, well-thought-out work of art.Freier Fall is a love story, plain and simple. It should not be pigeon-holed as "gay" genre; its appeal is wholly universal. In fact, it belongs in a class of its own. The creators don't resort to the stereotypes and tropes so often seen with far too many queer characters in film and on television. Nor is it a "coming of age" story either, of which there are also too many.Sexuality is inconsequential and irrelevant to the story the film tells. It is a small part of the greater whole. Allowed to exist purely in the complex, gray area that it often is in real life. Whether or not a viewer enjoys watching two men fall in love, Freier Fall is a film that must be seen regardless.It's a gorgeous paragon of German cinematography and deserves far more acclaim and accolades than it has received thus far. I 100% support Freier Fall 2 becoming a reality.

I just saw this film and I thought it was a beautiful film. It is a fresh breath of air especially in USA where there are not too many good indie films being released. Seems like Hollywood just want to make 100 million dollar films with no heart. Of course, "Free Fall" had a heart in this film and it touches you inside. The cinematography was exceptional and truly captured the emotional state of the characters as well as the flow of the film. The director was able to get excellent performances from the actors which were very talented and put their heart into each character. It was a very well cast film. The two men in love were so real. They were masculine men just dealing with their emotions and trying to find who they were. Marc (Hanno Koffler) was a very believable character who was torn between his girlfriend, new baby and his true feelings for another man. Yes any parents would react this way when they have to deal with the sexuality of their son with a family. I liked that the director did not go too much into the life story of the lover Kay (Max Riemelt- look out for this guy) as it left me thinking about him and enjoying the friendship and bond between two men. It can happen to many men and it happens all the time.

I loved this movie wholeheartedly, but as many people stated before me, the ending is sad. And why does a gay romance have to end this way?? IT DOESN'T! If there is enough interest, which there definitely is, a sequel with the same actors and director can become a reality. Please show your support if you want to know what happens to Marc and Kay! I don't ever go through the trouble to advertise something like this, especially a sequel, but there is something about the actors and the on screen relationship that really makes me curious for a continuation.
