Truly Dreadful Film

A different way of telling a story

It is both painfully honest and laugh-out-loud funny at the same time.

By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.

This is the original Tracy Letts William Freidkin collaboration just like Killer Joe just not quite as good. Tracy writes beautiful compelling character dialogue and William holds the focus with such expansive versatility. These two make a good team just like Judd and Shannon do in Bug. It bugs me in Bug that Ashley is wearing next to nothing yet at the same time she shows next to nothing. It bugs me I didn't get to see Ashley more naked. It also bugs me that beautiful Ashley Judd doesn't get enough credit for being a bonafide all-time hot woman, seriously, don't bug out, but I think she's like certified top 25 all-time hottie up there with the best of 'em. Don't bug me saying this, but I really do think Ashley is hotter than anyone, period. Go ahead, laugh it up, while your probably driving around town in your little fuel efficient bug you incredibly smug indecent hypocrite or maybe you don't burn fossil energy at all right and you like to ride around in the streets in your horse-drawn buggy you traffic halting incredibly smug inconsiderate inherit son of a motherless uncle. It doesn't bother me. I love Ashley Judd and her fake southern draw. There's closeups of some girl's tits, not Ashley's. Ashley does show her butt while getting out of bed but it's quick and you can hardly see her face in the scene but I do like it. When Shannon gets bit by a bedbug in bed in Bug Bug finally starts getting real good. Total side comment not relating to this movie in particular, Ashley Judd is so cute and so funny and so hot and so sweet and so smart and has such a nice body, actually that's not a side comment at all that's totally relating to this movie. Ashley Judd is one beautiful ladybug. I totally love Bug, a 6 is a really good score I mean Bug's not that good but I really love Ash's nudie butt almost as much as I love the rest of her. Bug could have used more appropriately shown nudity to better the viewing just like Killer Joe has on ordinary display. Lynn Collins and Harry Connick are a plus. Ashley's blue bug light inspired nude scene is honestly presented impeccaBugly. gsp. (good Shannon performance)

This is a God-awful movie. I cannot believe that I wasted my time watching it to the end. It is distasteful, disgusting, predictable and unrealistic. The scenes follow one another like a piece of metal scratching on glass. It repulses your senses in every way: the disgusting bugs, stupid characters who no one can relate to, boring and predictable ending and the utter feeling of dissatisfaction when this garbage movie is over and you realize that you could have spent your night doing just about anything else.Don't waste your time.

This is an excellent film. It starts out very unassuming and builds slowly on some levels but quickly on others. Early on there is an intrigue that grabs the viewer. I found this to be one of the most well done films in the last 20 years, tremendous acting and directing. But more of an Alfred Hitchcock than Ridley Scott. As someone else pointed out, the trailer is extremely deceptive. But note the title is singular making it a word that can have more than one meaning; it is a play on words. This is a psychological thriller, but to call it horror -- or black comedy as some reviewers -- is missing the essence of what's really happening. Great dialog and intense emotional innuendo. If you plan to sit and just be entertained you may want to opt for something simpler. If you like having your mind bent a little, than this is a great choice.

I see some like this movie and some who don't but I think everyone can agree Ashley Judd and Michael Shannon killed it (no pun intended) in this flick. I really enjoyed this wild ride, such an unexpected and unique story which leaves you wondering what will happen next. Harry Connick jr. was also fantastic as the Prickly, abusive ex husband Jerry Goss and just added to the cornucopia of fine acting performances. If you enjoy the strange tales of the where the human mind may wander (eg: Requim for a dream, Momento, any Darren Aronofsky movie really I guess) then you will enjoy this. I really can't say enough good things about the casting and the overall quality of this film, check it for yourself and see.
