A Major Disappointment

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

"You know what, I can write that, that Blog!" says the self- confident cook Julie in the movie.Perhaps I got it wrong but it is an unforgettable line in this movie! Maybe that is why I chose to write reviews on IMDB, and I'm going to state several interesting parts or details in this review.Amy Adams acted as Julie in this movie, which caught my attention. Once upon a time she even lays on the floor and began to cry. I believe most audience who has watched this movie won't forget her as the character. This writer, this young blog writer is so lovely and funny! Anyway, the failure during the cooking happens from time to time. So is the failure in real life. And that is why we watch movies and learn from them.The movie also makes me interested in the cooking. Cooking is a demanding but requiring thing in daily life. Maybe we should try work hard on the onion-cutting like Julia (buying nearly a hundred onions and working on them only because some men in the cooking class overlooked her) .Just kidding. However, if we don't try our best to prove ourselves like Julia, we might cry ourselves somewhere and giveup. If we try and work, we may, and we will prove to others that we are the Strong one!Julia wrote a book about cooking for the Americans because she couldn't find one in English language in Paris, during which I find that she even went to Shakespeare & Company! I'm gonna wondering what Sylvia Beach (the bookshop and literature society's founder and owner) would answer her in real life. Luckily, Julia chose to write one herself with her friends, and later succeeded. I'm sure Miss Beach would be glad to put the book on her shelves in the bookshop.This movie is about two great American women in a quite marvelous way. It tells us that even though we are a normal person like Julie and Julia, we can still do something great and succeed in our life. As Grandma Moses says, life is what we make it, always has been, always will be. Therefore, I'm going to give it a 9!

Really. It's a great cure for insomnia, I recommend.

if the performance of Meryl Streep is far to be a revelation - the role of Julia Child seems be result of osmosis -, Amy Adams is a real nice surprise. not for the acting itself but for the inspired manner to use the nuances of a role who , in easy manner, could be covered by the work of Streep. her energetic art who gives a vulnerable, dreamer, neurotic ,seductive character is one of great virtues of film. the second pillar, Stanley Tucci's job. minimalist, almost discreet, support for an explosion of energy and projects, he is the perfect Paul Child. this is the basis of a lovely film, wise mixture of biopic, humor, romance and food who reminds, in many scenes, old recipes of Hollywood.sure, the collaboration between Nora Ephron and Meryl Streep could not have other result but the charm of a story about struggles, sacrifices and bitter joy is almost a precious gift for the public.

I liked it, but it was very different from what I had expected, well I don't actually know what I had expected... it was just not that.The two main characters are played by Streep and Adams, they both do a very good job, but my good Streep must have had some problems with her voice at night after shooting a could of scenes on this set. Their husband/boyfriends are played by Tucci and Messina, also they do a good job. Its kind of like the older generation of great actors vs. the new one :)The story is good, long but good, this could have been at least half an hour shorter if that was what the director etc. had gone for. But it wasn't, this film was to show Julies and Julias struggles in their time and their hard work to get appreciated and loved.This movie will tell you a lot about Julia Child and her life, but you still have to buy her book to learn and experience the dishes yourself.
