After finding an ad online for “video work,” Sara, a video artist whose primary focus is creating intimacy with lonely men, thinks she may have found the subject of her dreams. She drives to a remote house in the forest and meets a man claiming to be a serial killer. Unable to resist the chance to create a truly shocking piece of art, she agrees to spend the day with him. However, as the day goes on, she discovers she may have dug herself into a hole from which she can’t escape.

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

Honestly, I'm a fan of this series. It has the same appeal as the Scream movies, but it takes itself more seriously. I love the escalation of the horror in each movie. The directors don't hold back on the gore, either, which makes it more realistic.

After a successful attempt at a found footage movie, Mark Duplass and Patrick Brice give it another stab with the sequel to their first acclaimed film "Creep".If you liked the first one, you will like the continuation as well. The same quirky and eccentric character played brilliantly by Mark Duplass comes back for more blood, but this time around it seems like he finally found his match. While it is similar to the first one, this one offers a little to much of Duplass' private parts which I felt did not bring anything to the plot. Otherwise it can be considered another episode in hopefully what will be a trilogy.

But, effective, nonetheless.I did like the first one and gave it the same rating as this one, and given the chance, I'd recommend both, back to back - even though it's been nearly 10 months since I saw the original. Of course, you'll have to, then, put up with 3 hours of a found-footage-type narrative. I will give it a pass here. The first movie shows just an example of this Creep and what made this sequel special was the more information provided on the Creep's life story. Again, I awarded both the same rating, but this is definitely the better chapter of the two.Creep puts out an ad for $1,000 in exchange of shooting a documentary of his during one 24-hour period. Desperate for clicks Youtuber Sara signs right up claiming not to be scared...and unbelievably, she rarely is. You know, being scared is NOT a bad thing, quite the opposite.Nonetheless, they meet, sorta flirt and he gets down to business advising the disbelieving Sara of all his murders and what plans he has for the night. It would be even shorter than the already short 78 minute runtime if she believed Creep for a moment, but, alas, she plays along and lets him have fun.Normally, I put my recommendation here, but already communicated that. So, yeah, watch both back-to-back and see if he creeps you out more than me. (I will say, though, the last moments were, in fact, pretty...effective. No, I'm not committing to the title.)***Final thoughts: I freaking hate CGI blood. Actually, not a fan of at least 50% of the CGI out there, but the blood is the absolute worst. It's so fake and corny, it completely takes me out of the movie. Why did I bring that up? It happens here in the cold open and if I hadn't heard good things about this, I might not have continued past that. C'mon guys, you're better than fake CGI splatter. That's just lazy and beneath ANY filmmaker.

The thin line between humor and terror in these deeply uncomfortable horror films is fascinating and compelling. It's all about Duplass here; his choices on how to portray such a skin-crawling serial killer are so bold and specific, if you don't buy in the movie will tank. I, for one, dig what he's doing. Maybe this one isn't quite as shocking as the first, but it's still an insanity riddled good time.
