One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.

My daughter and I were in Chicago by chance during a film festival. We had time for only one film and we chose Serial Lover based on the time it was playing. We felt so lucky to have seen it ... and the showing we were at included a Q & A with James Huth which took place following the film. What a delight. One of the most satisfying film events I have ever attended. It has been several years but I do recall the almost futuristic, sharp, hip mood. The scenes are often dark with points of bright neon color. Sharp contrast of dark and light from one setting to the next adds to the sense of surprise and delight. The contrast in dark and light is analogous to the contrasts between the suitors, and to the unresolved situation. The characters move between the dreamlike almost murky areas to the shocking, bright kitchen, they move between confusion and clarity of purpose. My daughter and I still talk about this movie years later ... and we will talk about it for years to come. This film was a part of our bonding and meshing as adults rather than child to adult. The subversive, strange, wonderful film suited our personalities to a "T" This film is forever associated with my daughter's now hometown, Chicago, and the road that took her there.

Wow! Late last night I turned on TV and found myself 35 minutes into a French movie. Just when I was about to switch channels, it started to get really interesting. Unfortunately I don't know how the movie starts, but from the middle it is action all the way and the plot takes so many new turns one thinks this was the fruit of a writers' relay, if you see what I mean. The absurdity made me think of Peter Sellers' "Oh what a party" or how it is called. This is a movie I might recommend to friends - not all friends, but those who have the right kind of humor.BTW, I wonder if the character ever got herself a new man..

I saw this movie on TV some years ago and I'm still waiting for a rerun. I missed the beginning, but what I saw was hilarious. You must have a twisted sense of humor to understand, but if you do, this film is very much worth watching. Like being said, it's about a woman who accidentally kills four men in her birthday party and then tries to hide what she has done. Picture this, a corpse sitting in an armchair, a woolly hat in his head to hide the murder weapon, and everybody thinks he's just watching TV. There is also a scene where some people pee down from balcony on people below and they think it's just raining. And just when you think it's all over... No, I won't spoil the fun. Get ready for a big laugh.

A murder-slapstick-comedy. Reminded me a little of those old Louis de Funes movies, but Serial Lover is much more 90s, and much more bloody, too. The funniest film I've seen since Clerks.I can't imagine anyone I know who wouldn't have a hell of a time with this movie. It's so funny! And the female lead does a perfect job of playing your average woman who suddenly has things getting way, way over her head, without knowing how she got into that mess in the first place. While it may not be totally original all of the time, this movie has a certain kind of freshness to it that I haven't seen in comedy movies for years.Did I say it is funny? It is. From start to finish.See it before they make the (inevitable) americanized version.
