This insightful documentary features some of the major and most beautiful actresses to grace the silver screen. It shows how the movie industry changed its depiction of sex and actresses' portrayal of sex from the silent movie era to the present. Classic scenes are shown from the silent movie 'True Heart Susie,' starring Lillian Gish, to 'Love Me Tonight' (1932), blending sex and sophistication, starring Jeanette MacDonald (pre-Nelson Eddy), and to Elizabeth Taylor in 'A Place in the Sun' (1951), plus much , much more.

It is not deep, but it is fun to watch. It does have a bit more of an edge to it than other similar films.

I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

One of the great docos ever made with excellent clips from films over 70 years of cinema.....and some absolutely impossible to see in the 21 st century, this is a must for all aficionados of silent and 30s female spectacle. Part of a series of film history docos like HAROLD LLOYD's WORLD OF COMEDY or MGMs BIG PARADE OF LAUGHTER this was about the women and their Hollywood gorgeousness. Very successful in 1965 upon release and never been seen much since.....the world changed a lot the next year, and more so the year after, this last stop before psychedelia and rock took over is a valentine to Paramount and Fox's female stars. Fascinating and quite revealing, literally.
