It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.
A story that's too fascinating to pass by...
This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
It is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film
I give this movie a 10, because it is probably one of the last french movie that was made with a true scenario evolving around ... nothing, just following a poor family in north of France, and with absolutely brilliant dialogs. This has become a cult movie for an entire generation thanks to its dialogs and hundreds of cult quotes from all the actors. you can compare this with the traditional french movies from the 60s, 70s, with Jean Gabin, Louis de Funer, Bernard Blier etc.... Forget the movie which had a great success and even won a Cesar, the french academy award, few years ago, Les Chtis, also about the people from the north... if there is one french movie you must see to understand french sense of humor of the 80/90s generation, Les Demons de Jesus is surely the unique example to put on top of your list... you gotta understand french though, I'm not sure these quotes can be translated into any language and sound as funny !
