Mum and Dad, and their 'adopted' children, Birdie & Elbie, work at the airport. The family live off whatever they scavenge from cargo holds, offices and hotels - including a steady stream of transient workers who populate the airport's soulless hub. When Lena, a young Polish office cleaner, is befriended by Birdie, she gets drawn into a nightmarish world of torture, murder and perversity.

It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.

In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.

Is is very very rare that i rate films so highly, as i'm forever picking holes at some level with movies. Mum and Dad didn't have a massive budget, but it is a hidden gem. Surprisingly i do not know many people who have had the chance to watch or even heard of this film, which shocks me as i have a few very good friends who are fellow horror fanatics. I can not fault this film for its originality, class and pure genius. Its barbaric, twisted, extremely perverted, and a total shocker (which reason to be). I love this film so much that its really difficult not to give to much away or spoilers (thats not my thing). But i will say this,,,if you like your horror with depth, meaning and surreal darkness, then this is for you . If you are more into visual horror then you most likely will not rate this as high as i have. The psychological aspect of this film stayed with me for a long time after my first watch. Its the only film of this genre than gave me nightmares (seriously). Its an unforgettable film once seen. and i can only wish i was there at the first showing at the festival. Warped family values mixed with life in a family unit.. We never really get to the bottom of why mum and dad are the way they are. There are many clues, and i liked that because it allowed my imagination to flow after watching trying to piece things together my own way. The acting was amazing the directing was superb. Please give it a go , it will change your perception of horror for good ! Thankyou for reading

I'm going to start this review by admitting that I'm about to give this film 7/10. I'm doing this now because I'm slightly ashamed to admit it.Basically, this film 'Mum and Dad' is pretty sick. I'm not sure what sort of person enjoys watching something like it, but, apparently, I'm it.A young cleaning girl at a British airport is lured home where she's held captive by 'Mum' and 'Dad' (obviously), plus their equally twisted offspring. If your mind is as twisted as mine, you can probably imagine some of the things that she witnesses and subsequently happens to her while she's shackled and chained. So, if you want to watch something like that then you should enjoy a film as brutal as this. It's made on a shoestring of a budget, but it doesn't really need many special effects to get its point across. It's one of the rare cases where a film really doesn't need a budget to make it any good.If you're in the mood for something sick, give it a go. Also, if you used to watch the happy-go-lucky BBC sit-com 'You Rang M'lud?' in the eighties, then you might remember the innocent and lovable 'Henry' from the show. Now watch him in Mum and Dad and you'll never be able to look at him the same way again.http://thewrongtreemoviereviews.blogspot.co.uk/

I tried to like it but just couldn't do it. The film is abysmal. There's nothing to raise it out of the depths of boringness it wallows in. No star turn by any of the actors, no surprises in the script or witty banter, no interesting camera work, nothing. It's just one pointless uninspired scene of 'torture' after another and none of it very original, intriguing or interesting. Lots of stupid decisions, bad acting, ham-fisted attempts at scares but in the end it feels like a group of pimply-faced British juveniles put this together in their free time as something to "drool" (I can't put the word I really want to put there) over on their dateless weekends.AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Watch The Loved Ones instead for a decent - no, BRILLIANT - horror movie about messed up families. It's about a million miles ahead of this tripe.

These days it seems that too often horror film makers to use the old teen slasher type recipe to strike a chord with young audiences and make a quick buck over Summer. While I, a horror film junkie, was drying out in the desolate wasteland of sub-standard spooks, Director Steven Sheil must have heard my desperate cries for quality horror and came to my rescue, quenching my thirst with 'Mum & Dad'.This film takes everything you thought was innocent, and twists it to be a concoction of would-have-been-normal-every-day-events gone completely-off-the-scale-psycho. No longer will I have the same perception of 'family values'. Mum & Dad are thoroughly hate-able and sickening, the siblings are damaged and harmful yet desperate and endearing and our heroine is sweet but gutsy. There are some striking contrasts used within the setting of the house and the film doesn't hold back on showing off all its icky bits. By the time I got to the Christmas scene I wasn't sure what else they could dish out, but it pushed the boundaries even further, mixing horrendous with humor and I found myself cringing and laughing simultaneously. From one horror fan to an other, this sick and gruesome film is a must see!
