Sadly Over-hyped

Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.

It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

The premise for "Feed", an Australian thriller, is reminiscent of such films as Seven, in which a biblical sin is fleshed out through a serial killer plot device. In Feed, a serial killer (O'Loughlin) manipulates women to overeat, so much that they'll hearts will eventually be stopped by their obese condition. Much like in Seven, the killer justifies his sociopathic actions through the sinful lifestyles of their victims, this time the deadly sin being gluttony. The point of course is not that serial killers' actions are justifiable, but rather highlighting the moral corruption of society at large. People idolize their bodily beauty so much, that the end-result, whether it's anorexic underweight or obesity, that he end result can only be devastating ugliness and, literally and metaphorically, death. While "Feed" then certainly is a movie that drives the point home with vehement conviction, the execution is its biggest obstacle in delivering that message to its audience. To put it simply, the film is so overly disgusting it's hardly possible to watch it, or finding an audience large enough to appreciate its message. Second, he execution of the script often trails to unintended comedy, that is, when it's not causing vomit-inducing reactions. And whence the two combine, the film begins to lose its thrive. On a more positive note, its star, Alex O'Loughlin provides a chilling performance as a sociopathic egotist, whose religious convictions posit with an illusion of being on top of the food chain, an illusion that the film's twisted, dark ending smacks right out of him. Unfortunately, a few minutes of pure genius does not compensate for an hour and a half of pure amateur execution.

A preliminary warning here - this film may not be for everyone. If you are a bit squeamish about various aspects of human physiology in the extreme, you might want to reconsider before viewing this item.Having said that, however, I will give credit where it's due. This is certainly one of the more original screen plays I have ever seen, and I've seen my share of quirky, fringe occupants of the horror / suspense / weird sci-fi genre'.The closest comparison that comes to mind, though it's plot and situations are quite different, is another quirky example of this sort of genre', "Hunger".Both of these films are quite terrifying and grotesque in their own way, but Feed embarks into new unexplored territory. As I said, for originality, this piece can rightfully claim to be unique, to say the least. The acting has its highs and lows, some well done, other parts a bit more . . . experimental, though the character development is interesting, particularly as it relates to the villain perpetrator's bizarre childhood which led him to his current state of depraved lunacy. And I will admit, the ending was a perfect fate, as it were, to be encountered by said villain.Parting thoughts - If you like a really, really . . . really different sort of bizarre quasi horror film with a twist, you'll definitely be entertained, though I suggest you do not want to be eating, anything, at all, while watching this . . . seriously.

This movie is the first movie in almost ever that has made me gag. Michael is a young man that was left to feed his mother who was bed bound because she weighed too much to get out of bed. This marked him life. He runs a web site that is dedicated to fattening up women. His current female is Deidre and her goal is to weigh 1000 pounds. An Austrailian police officer stumbles across the site and decides to track him down and confront him about what he is doing to these women. When he gets to the U.S., he tracks Michael down and discovers that there is more to him than just a web site about fattening women up. This movie should make us think about our health. Deidre is in a fat suit the entire movie and it is just gross. She is spread out all over her bed with a bucket positioned to catch her waste. Just seeing what was supposed to be excreted fat was enough to make me gag. It came close to being as nasty as the phlegm scene in Drag Me To Hell. Michael was extremely well acted. If another Ann Rice movie were made, he'd be my choice for Lestat. This is not a horror or gore movie, it's just gross.

This may be one of the most disturbing and sickest films you are likely to see. This is another film by "Dead Pit" director Brett Leonard, which was released in 2005. The story is about an Australian cybercrime investigator, that discovers a web site, where it appears a man is continually feeding an extremely obese 600 pounds plus woman to make her fatter, as she lies in bed mostly naked. That is the live feed apparently, but the web site is all about very fat woman which this movie shows plenty of. The investigator tracks the site to a location in the US, in Toledo, Ohio, and goes there trying to find the sicko doing all of this. But the question is, what if anything is illegal in what this guy is doing, because the fat woman seems to be enjoying it. Closer observation as the movie depicts what is really going on, and the story becomes even sicker. I just love this movie, it goes places where no movie I have seen goes. Everything about the movie is very gross, but it kept me very interested in how everything would turn out. The final confrontation between the cop and the sicko is truly memorable, as is the finale. I don't know if such a kinky perversion exists, where men continually feed their woman food to increase their weight to extreme obesity, but the film seems to think so, so maybe so, who knows. Anyway, it's a hell of an idea for a "Se7en" like thriller, and the best movie I have seen byBrett Leonard. I highly recommend this one, it had me going all the way through, and the ending is something else. The reveal of what the sickois feeding the woman to cause extreme weight gain, adds another level of disgust to an otherwise totally disgusting and disturbing movie. I love it, just up my alley for sure.
