This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.

Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

*****SPOILERS********While this can be an enjoyable comedy the historical inaccuracies (on facts that can be checked on Wikipedia by a 10 years old) are so big that they invalidate the whole movie.Uruguay depiction reminds the image of Mexico given by a bad American action movie from early 80's, a tropical dusty place where people wear white hats and white suits, eat coconuts and have monkey pets. There are reports from 1930 WC that say that there were SNOW falls during the Cup so hardly a tropical country. Moreover Uruguay was a much developed and "European" country than Yugoslav itself back then, receiving scores of European immigrants every year (including people from Yugoslavia). The Brazilian team is shown as having all black players which at the time were banned from the national team. If you do "Brazilian national team 1930" in Google you will see a lot of pictures with not one single African-Brazilian player on them. Their jersey was not yellow and no, they did not have a witch-doctor that looks like taken from the "Tintin in Congo" comic book to curse their rivals. Finally, while is entirely possible that Uruguay was, in fact, favored in the semi- final match against Yugoslavia there were in no case mobs with torches in the stands threatening with lynching the Yugoslav players, case they won. By the way, they lost that match by a 5 goals difference and that is not explained by some doubtful play in which the rival might have been favored. Sorry but it is impossible to enjoy a movie which feeds so freely on stupid stereotypes and gross historical inaccuracies. They all make it look cheap and lightly produced.

There aren't a lot of films about association football where football features so much. This has it all - football, drama, love, comedy, friendship and camaraderie. It's visually great, the music amazing, the main plot is good and there are enough sub-plots to keep the story interesting. The film is a bit of a light-hearted drama (not too heavy, deep or sad) and has moments of light comedy and comes off as being cute.It does play as a feel-good film without avoiding issues such as corruption, nationalism, what is the precursor to football hooliganism and so on, but it does not take those issues lightly either.Overall a great film and a must watch for people that are into history, football and the history of football.

Just watched this movie and have to say it was very good... it reminds me on those good times when you watch old Hollywood movies. p.s. Petar Matic if you say this there was no Serbia at this time because it didn't exist at this time, well guess what there, was no Serbian aggression towards those you mentioned because war broke in Yugoslavia and neither Serbia and others existed at that time, so save us from your nationalistic crap here which gave us those things in the 90-tis.This is movie forum where people from whole world come because of the movies not to listen to your crap that they threw from their countries long time ago. cheers everybody...

Bad, bad movie! Lousy and inconsistent story, full of missing parts (f.e. what happened with Moša, why he "is not the same guy as he was", what happened to him on boat?).. Long story short, this movie is insult for intelligence (Tirke learned Spanish for one month on boat?!), because it has been represented as movie which will present TRUE story about what happened on the first world cup! It is kind of mix between some fairytale and Spanish/Turkish/Indian soap operas. For me, Bjelogrlić ruined his credibility earned with "Vratiće se rode". Unintelligent movie with unintelligent dialogs, unintelligent story, but, with fantastic marketing. Gave him 2 just because it is domestic movie, and it is about football, otherwise... 0 (zero)!
