The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

In this more contemporary Scooby Doo movie, the Mystery Inc. gang, having separated and acquired new careers, reunites on trip to Louisiana for Daphne's television show. They run into fun, ghostly adventures - just like the old days. The animation in this movie was very colorful and the plot was somewhat suspenseful, making the story elements, especially that of the zombies. It was great seeing Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy and Scooby all banding together again to solve the mystery; you can tell that the humor, jokes and dialog have a more hip and modern touch to it.While a pretty fun and entertaining movie, it doesn't have that unique flavor of the classic Scooby-Doo series. It was interesting and noteworthy, though, to see this movie contain real supernatural forces. It's worthy to see - younger kids would enjoy this.Grade B-

Scooby-Doo has often followed a trend or routine of visiting some inconsequential location, discovering a mystery, being chased by numerous monsters and then neatly solving it with the trademark quote, "meddling kids". Zombie Island, however, moves from that entirely. To begin with, having the gang split up before being reunited is a nice touch to reintroduce their individual characters for those of us who lost track during the show's long hiatus. The opening sequence and those following Daphne's new challenge to find a truly haunted location are wonderfully put together, and really bring out the meaning of what the show is all about. There may be a brief pause in between, but soon the story develops into something quite intriguing.Imagery of the island and inside the mansion are perfectly captured, and scenes involving Shaggy and Scooby wandering the forest were eerie and when the zombie began to rise from the ground, it became a breathtaking experience. It's no surprise that the movie was given a parental guidance certificate, because there were some truly horrific parts for kids to endure. The movie may lose a lot of momentum by the end, but the historical links bring a whole new light on the mystery, and having the monsters be real is a risky step, but a successful one nonetheless. Overall, it was masterfully created, with a straightforward screenplay and a simple concept that became something quite original and incredible. The only real problem I had was the nasty fisherman's involvement in the story, if only to move suspicion from any of the other characters. Definitely one of the best Scooby-Doo stories ever!

With me being in my mid-teens, I feel a little bit silly watching the Scooby-Doo videos, but I have to admit, Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island was really the best out of all the franchise. Sure, it may be a little different, but when it comes to this one, I'm not kidding here. Its scariness does live up to the original show in my opinion. It is so creepy, you'll want to watch it again and again. Also, the ending just gives me the right to say "Surprise!" I'm definitely not going to tell you what it is though, 'cause it might get me kicked off of here. Anyway, if you like Scooby-Doo with just a touch of scariness, you'll love this. Oh, and I also recommend Scooby-Doo and the Goblin King if this is not enough.

This is the worst Scooby Doo Movie EVER. First of all, Shaggy's voice is terrible. It's not Casey Kasem and the person doing it instead did not do a very convincing job. And REAL Zombies? Are you kidding me? Don't mess with the tried and true formula.....the zombies, ghosts etc. are NEVER real in a true Scooby Doo. This one really scared my kids. I kept telling them the zombies would turn out to not be real. Scooby let me down. I am lucky my kids did not have nightmares. I almost did! If you rent or buy this movie expecting classic Scooby Doo, save your money and your time. I wish I had done so. I don't know what to do with it now except throw it away.
