It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional

Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

From every Warner bros VHS i had, there would always be a trailer for the alien invaders, it looked creepy and cool and my siblings and i just had to watch it, after the first viewing, it became one of our persornal favorites. Spoiler, there are real Aliens in this movie! They even start the movie with techs at a SETI radio station. The gang are on one of their classic roadtrips that always puts me in the mood for a roadtrip for some reason, when suddenly a UFO passes over them and their van dies in the middle of the dessert. On the way to town, they spot a jacaloupe ( a rabbit with antlers) near a mountain shaped like a scorpion. When they reach the towns diner, they meet some colorful characters, one being a supposed alien abductee named Lester, whose got to have the funniest lines in the movie. in one scene he tells the gang about his abduction and then the volume mutes, when he talks about the experiments they did on him with the gangs shocked expressions, im assuming hes talking about the "physical" that is later mentioned in the movie. he is shown to also be a stereotypical UFO nut, but a interesting and hilarious one! Shaggy and scooby are eventually abducted by the aliens, who look like broccoli men, but still have their intimidating moments. the next morning they wake up in the dessert where they meet a hippie girl named Crystal and her dog amber, scooby and shaggy fall instantly in love. Surprisingly ive come to realize shaggy has had quite a lot of girlfriends in the scooby doo franchise, but crystal has got to be the most memorable besides isla fisher of course. The romance in this movie is very sappy but charming, the song Groovy will basically tell you that ( shaggy imagines having a ty dye wedding with all of the gang present, and having a life with Crystal, but unlike other love struck cartoon characters he doesn't forget about involving his best friend, since scooby doo is still present in his fantasy; that to me is very thoughtful). The gang meanwhile go to a SETI radio station, where they meet 3 very nice techs, one is played by the always awesome to hear mark Hamill. Eventually the mystery takes place in a abandoned gold mine with still tons of gold, that the aliens have been mining. As it turns out the 3 techs are the aliens, which is surprisingly revealed very early, they even show their story of how they found the mine on the federal land and faked the alien hoaxes. Also as it turns out these are the 3 greediest sons of bi******** in all of the scooby doo franchise! Not only are they probably millionaires from all the gold, they said they stole cattle and sold them too, but when they meet the real aliens, they decide to capture them to make even more money!!!! The real mystery is why they even bothered to stay working at SETI, and not just buy the whole state! I digress, i promised real aliens, in the climax, a impressive fight happens with the real aliens, which are revealed to be crystal and amber! Their transformation sequences are equally impressive to look at, and when their real ship arrives the animation is stunning. Sadly crystal and amber have to leave, which is actually very sad, even Fred starts crying, after watching the whole movie you have grown attached to crystal and amber and their relationship with shaggy and scooby, but at the same time its probably for the best. The aliens departure is very stunning animation and it leaves me in awe every time. I feel they saved their best animation for the right moments in this movie, the songs are very nice, the characters are all great, and this is a very special scooby doo movie that always abducts me every time i watch it.

This one hurt a bit.I mean, there were jokes that made the whole movie worth watching. Unfortunately those jokes weren't enough to really break the Alien thing.Watching it I wanted the return of the masks, at least then it wouldn't have hurt so bad after the first two.Instead we had introduced dead-end characters that we meaningless at the end, no real advancement, and a plot that was trying far too hard to be science fiction and not nearly hard enough to be Scooby Doo.

An avid fan of Scooby Doo that I am, this movie is the one! Despite the changes, Scott Innes doing Casey Kasem's role as Shaggy this movie is fantastic. He and Scooby meet the woman and dog of their dreams. The team investigate a mysterious sighting where the locals are not speaking. As for Shaggy and Scooby, I liked the video they made called "Groovy", I could agree with them more. The duo were worth the save when then dirty feds try to do them harm. And I think when Shaggy spiffies up, everyone should call him by his real name: Norville. I was very surprised when the the duo were alien agents, they were stuck in the fashion time warp which Shaggy lived in. And it was a heart wrencher when they left. But I wondered who was affected more, Shaggy and Scooby? or Fred? That part was sad, but it was even sadder that Mary Kay Bergen had passed on. That to me was a bigger heart wrencher. Despite of it all, it was a very good movie. Don't feel bad guys, the whole thing will indeed make your day. Enjoy it with all your Scooby Doo cartoon classics. A REAL KEEPER. SCOOBY-DOOBY DOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Rating 4 out of 5 stars.

On a trip across the desert, the gang encounter some sort of craft and, panicking, crash the van. As they wait for help Scooby and Shaggy claim to have seen aliens. Stuck in the town waiting for repairs to be done they investigate an old man's claims of abductions. Meanwhile Shaggy and Scooby fall in love with a local hippy girl and her dog and follow her to investigate a fenced off government area of the desert and the bank of satellite dishes. One of a series of new Scooby Doo films, this doesn't distinguish itself in any particular way but does continue to give us what the others did – a more aware version of the old cartoon without going the whole hog and filling it with knowing adult gags. The plot (as with most of the new cartoons) involve real beasts rather than just relying on comedy monsters – these aliens are a little unsettling at times, but the comedy is still good for kids.Scooby doing impressions is a good one, but there are also some self-aware gags that work well for those who grew up watching the old cartoon series – the best bit being where the line `and we would have got away with it etc' is cut short by an impatient policeman as the film moves on! Some of the musical numbers are a little weak but just about contain enough funny lines to cover for the poor music. Shaggy's love subplot is not as strong as it could have been but is still an amusing side of the film.Overall this is probably not for adults but can be watched by them as long as they are fans of the series. The gentle comedy is good and the plot is farfetched but well put together (although I had major reservations at the end). If you're planning to watch it then I imagine you already know you're in the mood for that type of humour and, as long as you are, this is quite an enjoyable little movie.
