Ángela Vidal, the young television reporter who entered the building with the firemen, manages to make it out alive. But what the soldiers don't know is that she carries the seed of the strange infection. She is to be taken to a provisional quarantine facility, a high-security installation where she will have to stay in isolation for several days. An old oil tanker, miles off shore and surrounded by water on all sides, has been especially equipped for the quarantine.

A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.

After watching the third installment, it felt like the franchise is dead and they have completely ruined it. but surprisingly enough the creators understood their massive mistake and got back on course with the final chapter.Again, just like in part 3 everything looks more professional, more of a ''Hollywood'' style, if i may. They chose to move away from their ''homemade'' horror niche into the mainstream, which was not such a massive fail in comparison to part 3, which was utterly atrocious. The original main character, who started the series off is reintroduced, which is already a massive plus, since people have already grown to like her awesome performances in part 1. This time action takes place on a ship and takes more of an action movie kind of a route instead of its original shaky, thrilling and scary setting. They opt for more fights and bloody scenes, instead of jump scares and suspense, which was not horrible in this case, but it took a way the original feeling the first two parts gave us.Altogether, the final installment explained quite a lot, everything we have seen before came together, was a little out in the open and blatant, but still a massive improvement from part 3. It has been announced it is the final chapter, but the creators left it very easy for them to continue this series, if they wanted to, with a very open ending with a lot of future possibilities. So, perhaps we are going to see REC 5 after all?

See what happens when you have a bigger budget to make a film? You make the movie ultra cheesy and derivative (read: like a US blockbuster) so you can get the producers' production money back plus a little extra change to buy that cozy villa in Ibiza. This movie started off fine, just like the first in the series. What happened? The pretty newscaster's acting got much hammier; she screams at everything. Even a moth flying past her nose would make her scream with her eyes as wide as saucers.I like watching foreign films because you get a chance to see things that the American censors are quick to censor. (Rec 4) simply looks like a US Saturday afternoon matinée popcorn movie, just in Spanish. The originality is gone. The unpredictability is gone. You can see what's coming from a mile away. The direction could have been phoned in by Michael Bay, Ridley Scott or whoever directed those Die Hard movies.I gave the movie extra points because of the things it did do well - the cinematography, the frantic editing, the action and the gore. Too bad you've seen this film many times before. Oh well. At least it wasn't a total waste of 90 minutes of my time.

When you think about the horror movies that go on forever you have to admit that most of them get worse in time. But with the Rec movies I honestly think they did a good job with all four. Okay maybe the third one was not in the same line as the first two but it was still a decent zombie horror movie. Now with Rec 4 Apocalyps they produced a movie in the same line as the first two. Maybe not as good but certainly worth a watch. I actually didn't get bored for one second and I thought the story was really entertaining and well written. Will there be another Rec or will this one be the end? To me they could make one more but they could stop as well. I enjoyed all four and I'm certain that most of the zombie movie lovers did as well. There are way worse movies in this genre then Rec. To me it's already a classic in this genre.

The first 2 films were great not only because of the great acting and overall great atmosphere, but also because it was 100% found footage... you only saw what was recorded by the characters camera and it made the movies much more suspenseful because it felt more real because it was fully committed to the found footage style. And unfortunately REC 4 does the same thing that put me off about the 3rd one (among other things), and that is that it is not entirely found footage. Actually like 80% of the movie is normal shoots filmed professionally in good looking angles. There are SO many horror films and REC removed the one thing that, in my opinion, gave it a unique feel and look to it... Overall You are better off ending with the 2nd film. Both REC 1 and REC 2 are tied together wonderfully, and bot are scary and suspenseful.
