Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny

First of all, let's get this out of the way. No, your eyes are not deceiving you. Yes, they did RECAST THE ENTIRE FAMILY, all of 'em, even the dorky friend. They've all been replaced. Steve Zahn? Gone. Rachel Harris? Gone. Zachary Gordon? Gone. In their place we have Tom Everett Scott and Alicia Silverstone as the parents and Jason Drucker taking on the role of Zachary Gordon. Now, I love Alicia Silverstone....or did. Way back in the 90s, she was the "it girl" and she did some pretty great films back then, Hollywood hasn't really been kind to her since then. Her last MAJOR Hollywood film was Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, alright? So other than featuring on TV shows, she hasn't really done any worthwhile work in Hollywood films. This could have been her triumphant return to the big screen but the dialogue was bad, the plot was extremely stupid, and honestly, it looks like she was trying too hard to fit the role and it wasn't working. She was over-acting in most of her scenes and it made her look like a cartoon character more than the mom that Rachel Harris spent 3 films developing. The kid that took over the role of Greg (the main character) also seemed like he was trying way too hard to imitate Zachary Gordon. I imagine the producers probably sat him down and made him watch the previous Diary of a Wimpy Kid films so that he could perfect his imitation. Instead of being the role, he seemed like he was trying to be someone else being the role. It wasn't working. Shame on you Warner Brothers for putting out this garbage. This film should never have been made. Not without the original cast and certainly not without the hilarious writing and quirky dialogue that made the previous films what they were. Instead of re-casting the family, they SHOULD HAVE made a sequel with the same cast, playing the same roles, but older in age.....because you know.....kids grow up, right? Too long/Didn't read: Don't waste your time on this stinker. Pretend it doesn't exist and just continue to enjoy the previous films for what they were.

Hey everybody, I'm back again for another review, and guess what? I've seen Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul. Now before anything, I'd like to talk about the Diary of a Wimpy kid series, for me, the books are my favorite series of books, they just have very realistic aspects in life like Sibling humiliation and Popularity struggle and the humor was fantastic and I personally thought the live-action movies were good as well, they had a casting that matched perfectly, it stayed true to the books, the 2D animation scenes were very impressive. Alrigth, enough of me, let's go back to this movie: The plot is about Greg and his family are going on a car trip to visit Greg's great grandmother, however, Greg instead wants to go on a convention to make a video with a Youtuber named Digby, which will then stop turning Greg into a complete joke. The Pros: There were a lot of emotional moments between the family, seeing they finally talk and connect to each other makes the movie really really sad, plus, there were a lot of funny moments, but most of them consisted of characters acting like idiots, which then creates the cons. The Cons: 1. The characters in this are BAAAAAAAD! First off let's talk about the old characters: Greg turned into a realistic kid who was trying to fit in into a Squidward stereotype, seriously, Greg always get's tortured all the time, and some of the Greg torture aren't even pleasant, but that'll be mentioned later, Rodrick can have some funny moments, but overall, he just act's like an idiot who cares about himself, hell, he even made Greg get the money of the convention, only to Rodrick use on his van, Manny is an annoying cry baby who cries for everything, Rowling has zero personality , Mr. Hefley is a moron who only cares about his job, and Mrs. Hefley is the only good character since she's responsible for unlike any other parent in a bad movie. And were only beginning with the cast, Greg's great grandmother is the same as Rowley, Digby is a fat liar and a douche-bag since he humiliates Greg in front of everyone, The Bearded man is a really gross and brainless man who's the main antagonist of the film, and the Bearded's kids are brats who get Greg in trouble. 2. The gross-out is atrocious, and I can't believe these scenes weren't cut away so it could make the movie more pleasant to watch. 3. The plot is very lazy, even if you have only read the plot, you would still know the plot is just using plots from other road trip movies which have the same idea. 4. The reveals like Greg playing in the phone the whole time or Greg getting out of a hotel near the convention were not revealed in a good time and this makes all of the sad moments not timed well. 5. The casting doesn't match the characters at all, and that says a lot because in the movies, they matched perfectly and were well chosen, this cast on the other hand tries to act like the others, but they aren't anywhere near as well chosen as his predecessors. 6. The references in these do not work, not only because they look like cheap excuses for money, but because kids may not get it, because a lot of kids don't know about Dunkin' Donuts, Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory, the CGI Mario games, Psycho, Minecraft and even Mad Max, do you think the kids know about any of these? No! Then good, you don't know how references work. Overall, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul sucks as a movie sequel, no matter what, if you hate it or like it, I still think this is definitely one of the worst sequels ever, now what I really want is to Fox get the original cast, trust me, this new one isn't going to make things better.

A Heffley family road trip to attend Meemaw's 90th birthday party goes hilariously off course thanks to Greg's newest scheme to get to a video gaming convention. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul is the 4th installment of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid Franchise and without a doubt it's the worst one of them all it's Jaws 4: The Revenge kind of bad from the awful and over the top acting to the awful dialogue and of course plot which there isn't any actually. Plus i've never seen worse acting from kids in years like this film has from the main character to his brother and beyond and the whole "diaper hands" joke wasn't even that funny jeez and it goes on forever and ever. The only thing i liked was Alicia Silverstone's performance she was at least acting and she is an OK actress in general plus this film is way worse than Batman and Robin at least that movie was funny. (0/10)

I had high hopes for this film, until I saw it. This movie could have been like the previous films that where okay and kinda good, but at everything they did right in the previous films they did wrong with this one. The problem is the movie feels rushed and trying to move to the next joke, the jokes are unfunny and childish. Not only are the jokes childish but the acting is the worst I have ever seen. Not only that but the characters are complete idiots and feel unreal, in past films they felt real and relatable. Unlike this one the movie tries to relate to the audience with references of "Mad Max" and Markiplier but fail to do so. Overall it was a big disappointment, I give it a 4/10.
