Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.

While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

Outstanding cop thriller movie full of suspense, grittiness, action, drama and gut punch delivered excellently by a stellar cast who makes it seem so real that you accept it as it unfolds. Cop movies that are done right come across raw and ready which is the case here. We are also introduced to the dark side of being a cop, a very thin line divides the good from the bad and that line hammers away trying to get you to cross it. Some cops handle it better than others and some make the mistake and come back but there are those that lose the way back and this movie covers the subject quite well. The power that police possess is formidable. It just doesn't start or end with them but reaches out into the court systems and literally can affect your life for the good or the bad depending on how you respond and of course how they respond to you. We learn what all men learn during this brief earthly journey and that is there is no place to hide from ones own conscience and it has been tried over the centuries. It remains impossible to do unless one repents (changes) and begins anew. The movie covers that well too. A dirty cop is shown no mercy by anyone starting with the public, then to good cops and finally the courts so going bad is not good and never works out. The problem is with anything forbidden, it becomes thrilling, exciting and like a drug and after a while what you got into gets into you and owns you. The movie covers this too. Good movie to snack with and you will need something to keep your fingers busy or you will chew nails at a couple points. Better to chew popcorn or sunflower seeds. Include a tasty drink. Well done to all on this movie. BTW...the ending is submitted and makes for good discussion should you choose too

Bombastic, clichéd, over-acted and poorly written, "Pride and Glory" is nevertheless hilarious for the sheer number of unnecessary swear words it manages to pack into each sentence. This movie unleashes profanity like a freight train full of F bombs. And when our cast aren't vomiting obscenities, they're delivering the most overcooked dialogue possible: "I was a good man once!" one tormented police officer yells. "We took a pledge to uphold something honest, but we let it rot!" It's like Shakespeare with a badge and a side order of dumb.Director Gavin O'Connor and actors Edward Norton and Colin Farrell strain mightily to convince us that this is a "gritty", "realistic" and "important" tale. It's not. "Pride and Glory's" tale of police corruption – which itself misses the larger point that law enforcement is intrinsically corrupt as a social institution - can be found everywhere these days, especially in the straight-to-DVD market. "Glory" gets the glory simply because of its A-list cast and big studio financing.4/10 - Compared to serious crime drama like "The Wire", or good, modern crime pulp by David Ayer, "Pride and Glory" is mostly junk. See too "Serpico", "Prince of the City" and "Q and A". Worth no viewings.

The meltdown of a corruption plot within the NYPD is told through the perspective of one family, in director Gavin O'Connor's severely underrated 'Pride and Glory'. At the heart of it we have Colin Farrell (the corrupt one) and Edward Norton (the straight one), both on the search for a murderer, but both for entirely different reasons.I remember seeing this film at the cinema years ago. I liked it then, but I loved it now. Brilliantly choreographed, really well acted, and a fun storyline that I was always engaged in. I've never seen a bad Edward Norton performance, and he's on top form here. But I think Farrell is the real star. Watch the scene where he threatens to kill a baby. Good stuff. What I like about this movie is that it's not an action thriller. It's a drama about the relationships between the characters. Nothing is black and white in the film, and it works well. I think Jon Voight is wasted a bit in the movie though; his scenes are great, but so few and far between.I don't think this movie has got the praise and accolades it deserves. Perhaps it's not as strong as other police-based dramas, I dunno, but I liked it. A great watch.

One of my favourite cop drama's has to be Pride & Glory. It has to go down as one of the most entertaining cop thrillers I've ever watched. That's no joke either. I think this is filmed with real power and passion compared to most cop movies. It's really tense & gripping. Utterly compelling to watch at times. It's much tough & grittier than cop films like, say Dirty Harry. Biggest difference between this and Dirty Harry is this is much nastier, darker, tougher, & grittier. It is filmed with much more passion and honesty. Some scenes feel so realistic you'd think you're almost watching a cop documentary of someone's life as a cop, & dream of growing up to be a cop. Colin Farrell (Though I don't like him) gave a stunning performance in this, one of his best if you ask me. Ed Norton gave a blistering performance to. In fact, I'd only rate his performance as racist Nazi American Derek Vinyard higher. He showed to me that he is a great actor, and he can act so well when he gives it his all. The story mostly evolves around finding Angel Tezo, who is the target. The Tierney family which include Ray Tierney, his bro & sister, and her husband Jimmy Egan, along with Tierney Senior. I found the funeral part very gripping to watch, and the confrontations were intense throughout the movie between the cops. There is a lot of profanity which is understandable in a film like this. It is really entertaining and the acting is convincing and powerful. I would definitely encourage people who enjoy anything such as documentaries on cops or other cop thrilling films to buy this. I'm really pleased I bought this, it was well worth the cash. 8/10 is my final rating (Which means excellent). Don't miss this powerhouse of a cop film!
