the audience applauded
This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
I see the Anderson contingent will vote top marks for anything he produces regardless of merit This film has no merit. It is merely a very bad copy of many copies of Japanese animations that were trendy in the 70s. It is certainly nothing new.The story isn't written very well, although it had potential. I managed about twenty minutes before feeling like watching a washing machine would be less boring. It doesn't live up to, or come anywhere near the hype. One to miss for sure
Great film, loved it. If you liked Fantastic Mr Fox and other stop animation then you'll love this too. Simple story well done.
The attention to detail is GORGEOUS. Just for the art alone it gets high marks. And the offbeat style was great, q.bit different and captured something that I hadnt seen in a while. I was accompanied by brothers and friends some who weren't necessarily fans but ended up enjoying it a lot. One thung I liked was how the Japanese was selectively translated. Also the political and ecologicalsituations harked back to the reality of today. The dogs were heartwarming. The people were wierd. It was a quirky movie. Awesome.
Amazing stop motion, amazing soundtrack and amazing storyline that depicts the Japanese culture. So many dogs but no shiba inu? Maybe some Asian should watch this film and learn to love dogs, not eat them.
