I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.

There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.

The film may be flawed, but its message is not.

Given that the USA and UK share a common language this film is one of the few I have watched where a translator is actually required. This is "end to end" action, although there isn't a good ending within this...if you watch you will find out why without me spoiling it for you. I wont be doing this one again, nor any of the others. The drug addict sister, was in my view, poor casting and Its rare to actually view a film with "no hero"....not really for me

This movie about professional bank robbers is very interesting. I've seen this flick a few time before in the past, and i casually started streaming this on Netflix tonight simply because i couldn't find anything else to watch and i found this film riveting, i couldn't stop watching. Of all the times I've watched this film I haven't enjoyed this movie as much as i have tonight and i believe Rewatching films is a good thing because you miss things that you didn't catch before and / or for reasons unknown - you simply enjoy a film the more you Rewatch it.Takers is a fast-paced heist flick. I don't usually watch heist films because they are overrated, but Takers is good to watch if you can't find anything else to stream. The characters are what they are. I don't think the viewers need to like these characters, and i don't think that we need to hate them, it's simply a movie literally about cops and robbers. There's plenty of action, decent performances, and a great film score composed by Paul Haslinger. The best scene of the entire movie in my opinion is the chase scene in the mall with Chris Brown. The ambiguous ending about whether Idris Elba and Matt Dillons' character's will survive their injuries could drive you crazy, but if you just look at this film for what it is which is a couple of hours of entertainment, you can overlook what the Director John Luessenhop is trying to do with that ending.

I rarely take the time to write a review on IMDb but this one sucks so bad - after a decent start - I had to do it."Takers" starts off promising with decent cinematography and sharp detail but soon enough there's too much of "I've seen this before" feeling. The pace is fast and there's plenty of action but "cool" gangsters moving to loud "cool" music has been so overdone it seems the director couldn't come up with any original ideas so he felt it OK to just copy elements from "Heat," "The Italian Job," and others already mentioned elsewhere. Sad.Only Idris Elba and Matt Dillon pull their weight in the acting department. The other "actors" - especially the rappers - all come across like rank amateurs, unable to deliver any credibility. Wanted to turn it off by the 60 minute mark but forced myself to see through the end. Will NOT be watching this trash again.A lot of flash here but little energy. Dull, predictable, boring and forgettable. True fans of heist films will do better with a rerun of "Heat."

Takers (2010): Dir: John Luessenhop / Cast: Matt Dillon, Idris Elba, Jay Hernandez, Paul Walker, Zoe Saldana: Well crafted bank robbery action film about dominance. It regards five criminals who plan and strike their target but their final heist halts with consequence. Matt Dillon plays a cop and father who investigates the latest heist while his partner is caught on camera committing theft. Idris Elba plays one of the criminals dealing with his sister's drug issues while hoping to grant her desire to leave for home. Chris Brown makes a great impression as one of the criminals who left prison with another heist in mind. Paul Walker also stars as one of the contacts. Dillon delivers his best performance since Crash as a cop struggling with his partner's criminal double life as well as trying to be a father and not being there enough. Jay Hernandez plays Dillon's partner who is criminally guilty and will conclude to a dead end. Idris Elba and Paul Walker also give credible performances as criminals who engage in the fatalities of crime while also reaping its so-called rewards. Zoe Saldana graces the screen becomes entwined in a risky romantic relationship within the group. While the ending may poise issues regarding right and wrong director John Luessenhop does an outstanding job at presenting a crime don't pay message of greed. It all seems fail safe in the planning stages but hindsight is 20 / 20 in that the disaster is never avoidable once the plan is in full effect. In the end this is a well crafted film where the only takers are those anticipating their own downfall early. Score: 9 / 10
