In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.

Daddy's Little Girl is about revenge, but focuses mainly on gore.To be honest, I wasn't expecting very much, and I saw several reviews that praised this film as being very thought provoking. It wasn't. The plot is exceptionally predictable, and it doesn't really bring anything new to the revenge tale. No twists in the plot, and a few rather 'recycled' cinema moments. Think of a very badly acted 'Mystic River' with torture scenes. The main character of the father however, is one of the worst elements in the film. Unfortunately he seems more annoyed than enraged throughout the movie. I assume he understood before starting his acting career that he would have to learn how to emote, but I was underwhelmed with how the father reacted to the death of a child, he subsequent depression, and revenge.A man who is capable of torturing another man, who can extend that level of pain and violence on another human being, couldn't possibly do so without some level of empathy or emotions. Most people would be repulsed by the sight of blood and viscera, but neither does he relish in it. He just does it and acts overtly angry. He even tries out some "ironic" torture techniques... har har i suppose.Maybe it was his tone of voice, but honestly... he was the worst. Especially considering who the murderer was (I won't ruin it, but you can guess who it is within the first 20 minutes of the film) Anyways, this movie didn't show anything I hadn't seen before. As far as the torture stuff goes; it's there to enjoy if that's your thing.4/10

Sorry, did I say a little? This Australian horror movie delivers an emotional and disturbing punch, and that's putting it lightly. It spins a tale about a guy who finds out that his daughter had been kidnapped ( I told you to fix the window!) Things escalate when he gets the word that they have found his daughter. Unfortunately, they never said they found her alive. A sorry excuse for an investigation follows, which renders totally useless for months to come. Coming across a diary, the man learns a shocking discovery...he finds out who killed, and possibly molested, his daughter, and it has hit way too close to home. Finding out his own brother guilty, and finding out that he recorded other victims within his own diary, sends daddy into a frenzy, and he's taking matters into his own hands. None of it is pretty, none of it is for the squeamish or faint of heart. We're talking hardcore, barbaric, ruthless and emotionless pedophile torture. How much torture? I'd safely assume the last 50 minutes of the movie, almost nonstop torture, acts so bad they'd probably make Charles Manson cry, so you HAVE BEEN WARNED. Now, for the haters of this film, and their one or two star reviews, listen: They just don't see the point. The movie, from what I see, shares two characteristics in which I feel it is a movie that should have been made. Point 1...Hopefully, it serves as some sort of comfort to see a rapist clearly get what he deserves to anyone who has lost their child. Point 2...Hopefully, it serves as some sort of wake up call to anyone who has any intentions on harming a child. HARD CANDY got the same kind of bad reviews, probably for the same reason, they don't feel like scum like this deserves this kind of punishment. It will clearly be up to the viewer to decide for themselves who the monster really is. It's not a movie for everyone, and it's not a movie for those who are easily upset. I recommend, it could very well be the most anti-pedophile movie ever made.

This is one of the best films of its kind that I've ever seen. However, it does require a pretty strong stomach. I've seen my fair share of what many people have come to call "torture porn" and even I gagged a couple times near the end. The movie was well paced and well written. The actors were believable and Michael Thomson did an incredibly good job as lead character Derek. Billie Baker as Georgia did very well also. The torture scenes were brutal and creative without getting too gross, except for the part where he was ripping out teeth and its only a few minutes long. The essence of the story is that Derek's daughter goes missing from her room one night, to be found later brutally murdered. 6 months later Derek discovers who killed his precious little Georgia and sets about punishing the killer, whom you could say he was very close to. In the end, Derek shows a level of basic decency, of sorts, which I highly applaud. The ending was excellent and rounded out the movie well. Now, some reviewers saw plot holes, but I didn't notice many. One person asked why there were cameras in Derek's house. In my opinion, this is easily deduced given the fact that the killer is obviously a pedophile. True, the answer isn't handed to you on a silver platter, but would it not be every pedophile's wet dream to get to watch a child bathe and such?I would not recommend this to anyone who doesn't at the very least enjoy a strong revenge/payback movie. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes a lot of gore and bloodshed. My favorite thing about this movie is that it has an excellent reason for the torture and unlike most films of its kind, not "just because."

I was just able to finish watching this Australian revenge flick and was shocked to see how so many people are able to pan this movie. Not sure why. The film portrayed itself as a "what would you do" situation pertaining to a brutal murder. Daddy's Little Girl tells the story of Derek, a man whose recently divorced and has joint custody of their six year old daughter Georgia. Derek & his estranged wife are at odds and things go from bad to tragedy when Georgia is kidnapped in the middle of the night & is later found brutally murder. Derek can only start picking-up the pieces of his life after six months of dealing with this agony and since the police have not been able to determine who killed his daughter, Derek starts his own investigation, which leads him to the monster that destroyed his world. From here, Derek determines what's the best punishment for the killer and so begins the decent into madness for Georgia's father. The rest of the film is brutally disturbing...I loved it. The is outstanding and Michael Thomson's Derek delivers an performance that communicates to the audience how much pain he has been put through to reach this point of insanity, since no normal human being could be so creative in torture. Incredible work by Chris Sun & the crew at Slaughter FX Production company.
