It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional

Why did this get 5.9 I do not know. It is just awful. It is not scary. It has an awful ending. The story line is awful. There are good actor in this movie. They wasted there talent. Do not wast time. And do not wast money. Do not see this awful movie. This about kill spiders. I could have liked this movie if the story line was not so awful. The ending really stinks. I give it 1 out of 10. This movie is a big pile of pooh pooh. Do not watch this movie. If you want see a scary movie. See Jaws or Jaws 2 of Jaws 3 of Jaws the revenge. Do not see this pooh pooh. I need more line and I am running out of things to say. Bad movie bad movie bad movie. I can not believe that the same man who wrote Piranha which is a great movie wrote this crap.

After the monumental success of Jaws, everybody tried to copy it. And it went beyond Shark movies. There were land based terrors as well. Such a film is Kingdom of the Spiders. Although it's pretty ridiculous the suspense of the film actually works all right, and it's actually decent. It's no masterpiece but for what it's worth, it's really not that bad. It actually plays out a lot more like The Birds than Jaws, in that there's a large swarm of the killer animals. The buildup is kind of similar too. The attacks begin early on, and every now and then. Then by the end it escalates into a large scale frenzy. Then again it's not perfect and if you're looking for a really good "nature attacks" film, go see The Birds or Jaws, because they're both much better than this. For what it's worth, Kingdom of the Spiders is an enjoyable William Shatner spider fest.

The best scene and the best actor in the entire movie is the cow in the opening scene. That cow was the best and I think the cow should have got an Emmy and a Grammy award for that piece of acting. The cow genuinely acted scared in that opening scene. If anything this movie is worth watching just for the opening scene alone because of the cow. Next to the cow William Shatner is also amazingly funny and plays his part well. If you are afraid of spiders I would not recommend watching the movie because you might not get the comedy. I would recommend watching this movie with an open mind and not expecting a serious horror flick.

This slow-moving B movie is often hideous to watch, with all the hairy tarantulas crawling all over. (In contrast, William Shatner -- playing a brave, lovesick veterinarian -- was one handsome devil back in 1977. )Making things worse, the plotting is mostly predictable and crude. The spiders do terrible things early on, yet the main characters seem imbecilely nonchalant about their impending dangers. Shatner and his love interest, a sexy entomologist, curiously handle the bugs, even after they have taken down 1,500-pound steers. They stretch out romantically in the fields knowing the creepy-crawlers are marauding. Shatner lets his beloved niece dig in the dirt. And so on. (In a silly twist inspired by incipient environmentalism of the time, the movie tries to make Man the villain due to his use of DDT.)The movie gets significantly better toward the end, and scenes of crowds in a belated panic are gripping. I found the movie's final scene to be satisfyingly grim.
