Sharon Hinnendael stars as Charlotte, a timid and sheltered teen who has just left an all-girls Catholic school for a new life at a co-ed university. But an ancient evil has followed her here, tormenting her with disturbing nightmares and tempting her with forbidden desires. It is a hunger that can only be satiated by sensual pleasures of the flesh...and a thirst for blood. It's a battle for her soul... and one she's losing. But Charlotte is a fighter. The chaos and torment threatens to unleash her own inner beast, and anyone even close to her may find themselves embracing their own horrific fate.

It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional

When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.

The film opens with a 1735 Bulgarian vampire scene, then switches to modern times. Charlotte (Sharon Hinnendael) attends North Summit University. She hails from an all girl Catholic school. She is pale, virginal, has a blood disease, and is socially inept. She is despised by the fencing team captain (Olivia Cheng), but is loved by Chris (Ryan Kennedy) Sarah (Chelsey Reist) and her fencing instructor (Victor Webster) who all want in her pants. Charlotte is clearly our dysfunctional Buffy who also suffers from hallucinations, bad dreams, and a gypsy (Keegan Connor Tracy) who needs to talk to her.The vampire aspect is small. We don't find out who the vampire is until an hour into the film. Most of the film centers around Charlotte, her job, her hazing, and her locker room discussions. The film has gratuitous nudity which includes a stripping/drinking hazing scene as well as some girl/girl action that would be classified as soft core porn.Perv Guide: F-bomb, sex, blond girl/blond girl action, nudity (Sharon Hinnendael, Kaniehtiio Horn, C.C. Sheffield, Chelsey Reist + others) 3 stars for the nudity.

In the 1700s in Eastern Europe a woman arrives at a house where a screaming girl is being held on a table. The woman cuts the girl's arm, pronounces some spell and drips some blood from a vial in the girl's wound. She then places a necklace on her in time when a female vampire attacks and bites a man who's also in the house to protect the girl.In the present, Charlotte arrives at college. She's very shy, reserved, downright repressed. She's there on a fencing scholarship and has to perform or else she's out. Her parents are dead. She inherited a blood disorder that killed her mom and also has creepy visions. Her roommate is nice to her, but her friend hates Charlotte, who starts working at a coffee shop where the owner develops feelings for her. Some type of psychic also notices Charlotte. And a creepy administrator also takes an interest in her.Charlotte is taking a literature class that is dealing with mythology-- monsters and the like. The male professor for some reason is also the coach for the female fencing team. While Charlotte tries to stay out of trouble one night she's taken out for the fencing team rookie hazing, where she's made to drink. She's never had alcohol before. That night she also sleeps with another girl. Now her life goes into chaos. She can't fence right, her visions intensify and become more terrifying, she rejects the help from her friends. When she finally visits the psychic lady, things are revealed to her. She's from a line of vampire hunters, as was the girl on the table in the intro. The lady on the other hand is a descendant from the woman who was treating the girl. Charlotte even inherited the necklace from the intro. And it's burning into her skin which means a vampire is near. Charlotte will have to accept her destiny and face the vampire, a vampire who seeks to become human if he only can get ahold of a virgin--like Charlotte.Embrace of the Vampire has an attractive cast that shows plenty of skin. The location of the college is stunning. The direction is excellent. The story perhaps could have used some work. But at the same time it's not predictable. It's not the usual simplistic evil vampire against some innocent victims story until some hero appears. For a while the story just focuses on on Charlotte and sets the vampire aspect aside, so we could have used some more vampire action. The ending is sudden and strange. But it sets up things for a sequel which I'm looking forward to.

This movie was awful basically an excuse to see small breasted white women topless. There was an added lesbian scene to spice things up that's why IO gave the movie at least a two but she didn't remember she was with the girl, then she almost loses her virginity in the woods no less but the vampire spoils that. Then she goes over to the vampires house after he slaughters all her friends and they proceed to make out and she stabs him then he bites her she opens the curtains he burst into flames then she just lays there gushing blood end of story. This movie was a flipping waste of money. Again just an excuse to see a bunch of small breasted white women topless just watch porn.

Well the Twilight saga that I'm quite a fan of is over, so it's time to approach new vampire movies. One of the biggest non-cinema films of the genre in 2013 is "Embrace of the Vampire", a remake of the almost 20-year-old version starring Alyssa Milano. Unfortunately the hopes I put in this one were not really fulfilled. There's not really one single scene that genuinely scared me or had me on the edge of the seat. And I usually like films where the danger is sort of invisible, looking below the surface. The lead actress isn't too bad and the lead actor shows why he's one of the reasons behind the success of "Continuum". Unfortunately the two can't save the shoddy writing. It's the usual "innocent girl comes to new place and faces dark mysteries"-plot which was done so many times and most of the time better than here. Add a couple of the usual sorority girls and challenges (without the humor from teen comedies) and you have the typical example of a film where there's girls of every ethnicity and hair color and a virile guy and a boyishly cute guy, so there's something in there for every viewer's taste. Also, the film is quite explicit, almost soft-porn level: lots of making-out, boobs and even some girl-on-girl action, so you get horny at least if you don't get scared. The story seemed to be wandering aimlessly between dream sequences and reality, so you never knew what was real and what wasn't. It wasn't as effective as I'd have liked it to be and same can be said for the centuries-earlier-flashbacks and for the final exposure of the vampire. The only scene I at least enjoyed a bit was the group trip to the forest. The setting was pretty good and would have made a great choice for the big ending scene. Instead they switched back quickly to the place full of police investigating what happened. Shame. A good ending can't save a film, but it can surely make you appreciate it more with hindsight and they missed this chance by choosing a far less interesting location for the final scene. All in all, it's really only worth watching for die-hard fans of vampire genre. Everybody else is not missing much.
