The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.

James Rolfe, is what I believe to be the best you tuber around. His latest creation AVGN is such a radical web series. Even better than the Nostalgia Critic. Okay maybe the critic was fine, but the nerd is top notch. But if someone told you that there's a film based on the web series, you'd definitely say... WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?Yeah, that's this isn't the film that captured what the AVGN was all about. Okay well maybe it did, but only slightly. So we all know the nerd is famous on the internet, but why does work at a game store if he's famous? Who knows. But then he realizes that he has to review this parody of the infamous Atari game E.T. In the film, the burial of the cartridges was said to be an urban legend. WHAT?!That happened in real life. I even found a video proving that the games were in fact buried in the desert. So basically the nerd's goal is to review this game if he finds the games under the sand. But they're are times where film loses focus, saying that it also includes alien stuff. Even the effects are lame, was it really that difficult to hire an expert in special effects? Also most the acting is a bit lame, and what's even worse is that the nerd stays in character the whole time, even if Rolfe pulled off an amazing performance. The only thing good about the film, is the soundtrack. Why? Because it's a combination of game music and electric music. So epic. But that isn't strong enough to safe the film. Stick to the internet Rolfe, you may be descent filmmaker in your web series, but you're not ready to make movies just yet. So that's Game Over for you.

I find the film enjoyable though the games in it are just fictional (probably to avoid copyright infringement). The film was meant to be a tribute to the old B movies (cheap special effects and (hilarious) bad acting). It told us the legend of the Atari burial of New Mexico and we finally get to see the Nerd play ET (by it's fictional form "Eee Tee"). The film even contains the charm from the series like the Nerd's rants and swears. I didn't even know that the Atari logo is based off of Mt. Fuji until today when I first watched the movie. True that most of you Users say the film is Sugar Honey Ice Tea or terrible but I disagree with you. We also have a cameo of Mike Matai, The Guitar Guy, The Nostalgia Critic and even Lloyd Kaufman. The film has over 170 likes over 20 dislikes on YouTube.

I've never heard of ANGRY VIDEO GAME NERD before I watched this movie, he's one of those youtubers who plays video-games and reviews them, which in all honesty doesn't sound like it would make for much of a movie. But of course this is far from a biography but a low-budget comedy/scifi extravaganza with the nerd playing a version of himself as he sets out to debunk the myth that Atari buried thousands of copies of the video game E.T. (based on the movie) out of shame in the desert, but what he discover is a conspiracy far greater than anyone could have imagined.Reminiscent of FANBOYS (2009) and PAUL (2011) but with a budget of less than a 100th of the latter... Literally, PAUL (2011) was a 40.000.000 dollar movie where as ANGRY VIDEO GAME was 325.000 so yeah as far as special-effects goes it's pretty darn bad BUT that adds a bit to it's charm...Perhaps they were trying to do a little too much at times but it makes it a bit more unpredictable I suppose if nothing else, and they probably wanted to give their fans bang for their buck as it was financed by a fundraiser.Overall though, when I saw it was almost 2 hours long I had second thoughts cause most regular comedies made by the pros don't really have the material to sustain interest for me for that long but the ride was surprisingly smooth in terms of that, didn't even consider hitting the fastforward button once. The acting is so so, but what can you expect from a youtuber? He wasn't terrible at least and fairly funny at times, the rest of the cast were good enough. Entertaining if you're in the right mind for it, just don't expect a Steven Spielberg spectacle of a movie... Probably helps if you've at least played an ATARI or a Nintendo 8-bit console or something of the sorts.

I have never written a review before. Maybe it is because I have never been emotionally involved in a movie. With the Nerd it is different. His Youtube-series was fun, innovative and really took me to places of nostalgia. I always thought the best episodes of AVGN weren't those in which he swears and sh*ts on games rather than those in which he talks about the memories of our childhood, the feelings we had about the NES and goofy movies like "The Wizard". One of the best episode I think is the Atari Quest show. Watching it really took me back to the past. And now: The Movie. A lot of bad reviews have been written about the AVGN movie. All try to find out where James Rolfe did go wrong. And wrong he did go! Nothing of the originality, the mayhem, the comedy from the web-series is in this movie. First you are presented with characters you do not care about. Who is that black sidekick? Who is the girl in glasses? Who cares! Second you wait for a game review. ANY game review. Instead: boredom. The Nerd has a nightmare. The Nerd at work. The Nerd drives a van. Yawn. Other Reviews have stated the obvious: There are story arcs that go nowhere, too many cameos for the sake of cameos, no character motivations, unnecessary side-plots, and bad effects. I say that all these things would not count that much if the movie was interesting and entertaining. But it is not. Flaws like these and a runtime of over 2 hours make the movie feel like a trip to the dentist with the handbrake applied. And it does not help that the Nerd is characterized as a kind of messiah to gamers. What is surely supposed to be comedic comes across as arrogance. And as a final note: after this horrible movie I have noticed that James is fed up with the Nerd character. His newer web episodes lack the originality and care he put into the older ones. No more visits from game characters like Bugs Bunny and Batman, no more fights with robots, no more glimpses into the past. Instead we get a static camera and James running through the things we expect of the Nerd like swearing and drinking. It is hard to say for me, but this is one former James Rolfe fan sadly returning his badge.
