It's no definitive masterpiece but it's damn close.
This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.
This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
It is a surrealistic film, like a nightmare. Very claustrophobic n heavy on atmosphere. Saw this first in 2007 on a DVD. Revisited it recently. The movie is about a college girl who is trying to get home on Christmas break. She hitches a ride with a complete stranger by getting his number thru a college ride board. Strangely, the stranger knows everything about her. The stranger takes a short cut through the forests..... The acting by the two leads were very good, especially Blunt. The director did a good job with the settings n atmosphere. The story was decent but audiences may find shades of Dead end, The Abandoned 2006, Triangle, No mans land aka Reeker 2 n Haunter. Also ther r aspects in this movie which ain't original. In this movie u can make out when the terror is approaching when the song starts playing in the car a la Jeepers creepers style. Also most of the film is shot in the car a la Joy ride n Penny dreadful. The score is very good, in particular the piece at the beginning and end. Very haunting n sad. Despite nearly the entire film being set in the broken down car n almost in one location it never gets boring.
Greetings from Lithuania."Wind Chill" (2007) was pretty chilly and spooky horror / ghost story. It has a few actors, and Emily Blunt does a descent job as one of the few who gets into "ghost trouble". The setting was pretty simple but effective, as it's premise. I did liked the pacing of this movie very much - at running time 1 h 22 min it never drags and i was involved during this whole pretty short movie.Overall, "Wind Chill" is a pretty simple movie, yet effectively done. It has all the ingredients for a spooky ghost story - a chilling setting, few characters, good for this material writing and solid directing. While it's not the best horror movie around, it manages to make it's job for one evening / night when you are alone with the TV. Pretty solid stuff.
A common motif in horror is the lingering effects of bad occurrences. "Wind Chill" sets this on a country road in midwinter, with a young man and young woman stranded by a collection of mysterious figures. It mostly struck me as a routine movie about 20-somethings experiencing the terrifying effects of previous events. It's not a bad movie, just not much that we haven't seen before. As with most horror movies, the most interesting characters are the ghostly beings.I see that they filmed the movie in British Columbia. Having been to BC a few times, I can affirm that it's a fine place. It's not hard to see why people like filming there (especially in Vancouver). It wouldn't be a bad place to live.
Good and plausible film. SPOOKY! as hell, but with redeeming qualities. I felt bad things coming from the point that Blunt's character was forced to touch bare feet against "God know's what" on bare tile in a place she was unfamiliar with. (Something I could NEVER-EVER do.) I, personally, was knifed, sexually assaulted, and nearly bled to death in conditions very similar to the ones depicted in this film and thus you can understand why this was particularly scary for me. I remember praying to my long dead Grandmother and to God himself prior to finally being discovered and whilst watching this movie thinking to myself; "Why aren't they praying" or something equal to that thought process. Alas, they never did.
