At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

I won't rate Charles Darwin nor its theory, but this movie presents badly its life and the story of its book, it's just some boring stories of his life. I decide to watch the movie when I knew that it's based on a book of one of his grandsons, and the second good thing that I like was the presentation of Darwin's Period in England. however, I think that this movie wasted my time.

These types of films are excellent! It is a shame they do not make them more often.I am really interested in Charles Darwin and his work. This film gave some insight in what he did and how he lived. It follows a very interesting period of his life, and a very interesting conflict he had between atheism and religion after his work was made public.Cinematography is great and plot is interesting. Costumes are excellent and acting is excellent as well.I would recommend this film to anyone who wants to study Charles Darwin and his work, as well to the general public.A very good film.

I enjoyed this film. I am a biologist, and I found a vision of Darwin's life that I didn't expected. For me, the most interesting point of this movie is the focus on Darwin's feelings during just a segment of his life. I think that the main idea behind the whole story is Darwin's loneliness. Loneliness in the world of science, in the society, in marriage. Very powerful scenes. The face of Darwin's when Huxley says "you kill God" shows his inner conflicts; also, in my view, T. Huxley (T. Jones: excellent!) attitude suggest some encrypted envy! Something very difficult to transmit in a few seconds of film, but achieved! The scene with pigeons is very powerful too and with more than the direct meaning. In fact, many scenes have a second meaning, which make this film very rich. I did not expected historical accuracy, just a good film based on real events. So, I find something much better than what I expected. Bettany's performance was great. I only regret that Annie Darwin dead was shown. The absence would be more powerful. For this reason this film is not a 10. About the title: I think that simply refers to the creation of Darwin's book, so it is entirely correct and reflects in just a word the contents of the story. See a reproduction of a portrait of C. Darwin made by George Richmond in 1840. Paul Bettany in this film is really alike to the image in this portrait! I regret there is many reviews of this films saying that it did not reflect reality. I think that this is not the goal of art. Also, I regret that many reviewers say that this film is boring. I think that "Creation" is far away from boring. I will keep this film in my mind forever.

This movie was a disappointment. The focus is wrong. This movie focused mostly on the death of Charles Darwin's daughter and the difficulty he and his wife had coping with it. The evolution subject matter is peripheral and not very well dealt with. It skimmed on the conflict with religion and it wasn't very clear on the theories. The acting is good. Paul Bettany as Darwsin de livers a good performance and manages to act old and sick very well. He is a versatile actor. Jennifer Connelly as his wife looks good in period garb with her hair style and costume she looks like she is from a painting from that period. Her accent is not too British but that doesn't matter. The photography and production are quite good. Overall not worth watching. In the end I felt it was a waste of time.
