Malcolm and Kisha move into their dream home, but soon learn a demon also resides there. The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.

It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,

There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

I really do love the Scary movies and i think that Marlon Wayans is actually a pretty funny comedian for sure but this movie was neither funny or even just a little bit entertaining plus the whole Paranormal Activity thing is getting old and i'm just very bored of this whole thing of comedies do the same thing. (0/10)

I admit, I watched all of 20 minutes of this worthless trash, curious as to what the reasonably talented Essence Atkins was up to these days. For those who find humour in a dog being run over and killed in the first few minutes, or pouring oil over a teddy bear and simulating sex with it, you will have a field day. For anyone with a functioning brain - which has never been evidenced by ANY of these clueless Wayans morons, going all the way back to the excruciatingly UNfunny In Living Color which also vomited up Jim Carrey, the most talentless comedian of the modern era, your reaction will be the same as mine. Absolute, unmitigated garbage. And it spawned a sequel????? Wow. Only in a country that elected George W. Bush twice, I guess. SMH.

From the trailers, you might think that this is a comedy movie, a bit of a parody of horror movies and "haunted house" movies, but when I actually watched it, it seemed to be scattered.Yes, it had jokes, but it also had a plot that was well thought out. I won't share the details, but, the combination of this style of physical comedy and consistent story development should have made the movie better, but to me, it made it a bit less than excellent.I would rather they focused on making the story the focus, with jokes now and again, of focused on the jokes, and keep the whole presentation funny. From the perspective of the production, I was really impressed. The parts are done well and blend nicely... but the movie for me has no real re-watch value, so I don't like it as much as the serious horrors that it somewhat parodies (like Scream, I know what you did last summer) or the comedy-horrors that came before (e.g. the Scary Movie series). That is just my personal opinion, though... it was a 6/10 for me, but a lot of people would really love it. Purely as a one-watch movie it is a solid B+, and for those who don't watch many movies, even an A.I don't think anyone will hate it, but I wouldn't re-watch it in entirety. Looking forwards to what the production team does in the future, though. I sense untapped potential.

Oh, dear - how best to describe 'A Haunted House'... it's the sort of unofficial sequel to the first couple of 'Scary Movie' films, only the people who made the first two didn't return for the next ten (or however many sequels they've made by the time you read this). So, instead of having anything to do with the parody of 'Paranormal Activity' which is basically what 'Scary Movie 5' is based on, Marlon Wayans, is doing his own spoof. If you've actually seen Scary Movie 5 before you've watched this... then I wouldn't bother. Both parody Paranormal Activity and use the same 'slapstick formula' jokes. A Haunted House uses a little more 'risky' humour, but it's primarily people tripping over or getting up to sexual shenanigans. But is it funny? Well, it's about as funny as any fifth movie in a comedy franchise (even though it's technically not part of the Scary Movie franchise, you could be mistaken for thinking it is). Was Police Academy 5 as funny as the first? If you're thinking of watching this, you'll get a couple of laughs and smirks here and there, but it's not great. If you like horror parodies, stick with the first Scary Movie. Since then it's been pretty hit and miss from there on. It might keep you amused if you found it on TV late at night and were slightly tipsy.http://thewrongtreemoviereviews.blogspot.co.uk/
