I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.

The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.

A sad, sloppy movie filled with F bombs, drunks, arrogant hotheads. loud-mouthed low-life's and unlikeable characters...just didn't generate the sympathy factor. I went away from this movie vowing never to go to Boston for any reason

The movie is so beautiful and emotional , the story is moving and had a rare feeling in the end of it that explains and makes you feel what he might have seen after the bomb and how painful it is to be in it's area. That scene only deserves a special award for it's excellent way of imagining the that tragedy. Jake as usual did a great job as Jeff and a very honest and powerful performance. The story was good however the rest of the characters were so ordinary and performed as any other characters that brings boredom sometimes. The movie also had a very weak music that could have added to the scenes' value and with a story like this it could have been better and despite that the protagonist was very detailed and the story of him after the bomb and that he is psychologically suffering while it doesn't appear on him but I feel that it could have been presented better and a lot of more incidents could have been focused on and Jeff could have been way more better on screen. The screenplay was very good too and the ending of the movie was it's best with a very honest scene that will definitely move your emotions and shock you was very perfect. Highly recommended movie to watch . 7.5/10

A stolid biopic about Jeff Bauman, a man who lost both legs in the Boston marathon bombing. This is one of those movies that hits all its marks, offers nothing remotely surprising, and features a lead performance almost tailor made to be nominated for awards. Jake Gyllenhaal fills that role and delivers a stolid performance that hits all its marks and offers nothing remotely surprising. Are you seeing a theme here? There's nothing wrong with stolid when it comes to movies, and "Stronger" is one of the better examples of a film of its kind. One of the film's best assets is Miranda Richardson, virtually unrecognizable as Bauman's mom, a working class Boston broad surrounded by one of the most horrendous extended families ever put on screen. If Bauman's family is actually like the people who portrayed them in this movie, two lost legs are the least of his problems.Grade: B

What I liked about this film and what I think makes it stand out a bit more than other "inspirational" type of films, is this really focuses on the aftermath of the disaster. How these people's lives were affected by it. It doesnt shy away from showing people angry or crying or wanting to give up. I wish there had been someone to suggest going to a therapist though. It kind of irks me that when it comes to health care, mental health isnt also thought of. This isn't a fault with the movie (as I realize this is based off a real guy - and his real experiences), but it still annoyed me when he was getting crap at rehab. Like, maybe he would care more about taking this seriously if he had time to actuallly process what happened and why it happened. It does help that there is also great performances by Jake Gyllenhaal and Tatiana Maslany. Miranda Richardson also completely loses herself in the role. She feels like they genuinely pulled a real life Bostonian mom and put her in the movie. One nitpick I do have is that the film really shoves the "Boston Strong" message down your throat. I get this was a popular phrase coming out of the bombings. But I feel like every other scene either someone is saying it or a sign is showing it. It's a bit too patriotic at times.
