A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

Like a film made with two directors, the good one goes for a coffee the less capable one takes over. You have a mix of electric brutal well staged violence mixed with slow poorly put together, comically inappropriate scenes. The start in the store is poorly staged, and you think, who would do it this way, except a geek volunteering for 99yrs on death row. The villain Hagan, played by the totally unconvincing Vincent D'onofrio [ one of the worst actors in the film, to be kind maybe he was miscast] had no impact. Another scene with Josh and Rosario as sitting targets to a snipers telescopic rifle, sees them dancing about like sitting ducks at 250yds while she returns fire with a pistol, suicide jockey doesn't come near. Bruce pro-cameo where's the pay check Willis was totally unnecessary, his scene in the warehouse where he fronts Hagan does blah blah then exits kicking the s--t out of a gunzle on the way, he saunters out with his back to about six gorillas armed to the teeth, who do nothing unrealistic? cool? pointless? you choose its in there. The torture at the table brilliant and brutal, but reluctant heroes throwing up, no especially firemen, they go through everything, just a whispered "Its not like me" would have elicited an audience smirk. The best scene? The utterly brilliant interaction between Josh and Richard Schift under the sprinkler, acting direction, meaning, dialogue, worthy of the absolute best. The finish was also very good. The inconsistencies were irritating, the good bits surprisingly good. Well worth a watch you'll say "if only" but overall you should enjoy it.

Sometimes films can be entertaining, but for one reason or another are utterly forgettable. In the case of Fire With Fire, I enjoyed the film, but even a few weeks later, I had a difficult time remembering the plot. This is because once again we have an action film that is completely average in every way possible. It's a common story, with a lot of bullets, f words, and bodies, featuring a cast that was far from superb. Jeremy Coleman (Josh Duhamel) is a firefighter who witness a horrible crime. As a result, Coleman is put into the Witness Protection Program, which according to Hollywood is completely inept. Once found, Coleman and his significant other are forced to go on the run and ultimately decide to take the fight to their pursuers, with mixed results. This film was completely predictable and lacked any originality what so ever. Josh Duhamel stars and while he is a good looking, gigantic man, he's not much of an action star. He's lanky, awkward, and simply doesn't have the moves or personality to be believable as an action star. The Director tries to correct this by surrounding him with veteran action stars like Bruce Willis and Vincent D'Onofrio, but it is still painfully obvious that Duhamel got the role simply to be eye candy, further proved by the amount of times he unnecessarily takes his shirt off. As with all action films, Fire With Fire has it's moments, and Vincent D'Onofrio is always an entertaining villain, but aside from that, this film is good for nothing more than a 90 minute distraction, that you probably won't even remember it a few days later.

Considering that this movie went straight to DVD despite having Bruce Willis in its cast, I wasn't expecting much. But when I got a chance to see it for free after finding a DVD copy at my local library, I decided to give it a spin. Actually, unlike many user commenters here, I didn't find the movie to be terrible. To be sure, its screenplay could have gone through a few more rewrites - the love subplot feels unfinished, the main story has more than its share of predictable twists and turns, and the ending feels rushed and incomplete. Also, some of the acting leaves a lot to be desired. Josh Duhamel transformation from an ordinary Joe to a methodical killer is quite unconvincing, and Bruce Willis is downright terrible at times, phoning in a performance that obviously only took a few days to shoot. On the other hand, Vincent D'Onofrio makes his bad guy character a quite nasty piece of work, coming across as smart and scary - a deadly combination. And while a lot of the movie is predictable, I can't say I was bored at any moment. It moves along at a swift pace, and the action sequences are exciting and extremely brutal. This is far from a great movie, but if you are looking for some nonthink entertainment, it does deliver. Yes, it has some big problems, but believe me, I have seen plenty of direct to video movies that are MUCH worse than this movie.

Review: What the hell was Bruce Willis doing in this film? Anyway, the film has a pretty average revenge plot with nothing special happening throughout. It seemed like it was made for TV because its really basic and the acting was quite average. The thing that gets me is that these directors are really not taking advantage of the fact that they have these top actors. They keep on bringing out these stupid movies with terrible plots, not realising who they are working with. The ending of this movie was terrible and the white fire cracked me up. Once I knew that 50 Cent & Vinnie Jones was in this film, I knew just what to expect, so it didn't surprise me that it went straight to DVD. There isn't any twists or anything clever with the storyline and I just couldn't wait for it to end. Terrible!Round-Up: Like everyone else, when you see Bruce Willis I'm the cast, you just have to watch it, but this was one movie that I wish that I didn't watch. The leading actor wasn't bad in Transformers, so I won't totally put the blame on him. It is definitely the directors fault who should have known that this film was going to be a flop. It was a bit weird seeing Bruce Willis in a thriller/action movie, not getting involved in the actually nitty gritty of the movie. All he done was sit behind a desk in the police station, which made the movie even worse. It also could have done without the love story, which just made things complicated, but it wasn't the major thing wrong with the movie. I think you can tell that I wasn't that impressed.Budget: $20million Worldwide Gross: $5millionI recommend this movie to people who are into there thriller/action movies about someone who witnesses a murder and is threatened to be killed if he testifies. 2/10
