I disagree with the majority of the reviews on this one. I see it as a fitting tribute to Scooby and the gang. Yes, they changed a few things, but the spirit is still there. That being said, one of my sticking points is, yes, there is a shortage of our favorite Great Dane, but the scenes that feature are spot on to the characterization of him. The slapstick is great. I would recommend this if you go in with no expectations.

I don't think this is the worst scooby doo movie. It's just not as good as the previous one. There was no memorable music or moments. I just think this film focuses way too much on Fred and Daphane and Shaggy and Velma's relationship more then anything. What really annoyed me was that they had Richard Moll (the voice of Two Face from the DCAU shows) wasted. However the acting is good and the story mystery was decent.

I grew up watching scooby and seen every single episode, including the new ones... I loved seeing they used young new faces, I think they all played their role well, they even seemed like they were having fun... I personally disagree with many of the post's on here. First of all... When I was in my high school years I do not look the SAME... Including the color of my hair... The mystery begins and the curse of the lake monster is the young version of the gang so people need to understand the first two movies (the higher paid actors)cannot pass on looking young, sorry... And why do we have to have them look the same all the while growing up!?! Why make it too repetitive??? Change is good so I think people need to lighten up in this area...Not that I am knocking the first two or anything but I felt that Shaggy and Scooby were the only ones playing their role the best in the first two... It also did not bother me when they had Fred with brown hair! Cartoons never went in depth about Fred being BLONDE ALL HIS LIFE EITHER! I think people need to loosen up here and give it a chance... I think this gang are great! I do agree that Scooby should have been played more, but again the gang is just starting together remember.... I hope they continue the series... My boys love them and I enjoy it with them...

the movie will be great for kids, its family friendly, but thankfully is light on the grossout gags that have become de rigeur in 'kids movies'.. Certain parts may be scary for extremely young viewers (i.e., toddler-aged) but its pretty tame otherwise. The plot follows the Mystery Inc. gang as school lets out for summer and everyone gets a job at Daphne's uncle's country club right on Lake Erie. Only, in this town, there's a legend of a frog-monster and a vengeful witch that scares the locals. Needless to say, the teen sleuths decide to take on the case- stalwart Fred, plucky Daphne, brainy Velma, fearful Shaggy and hungry Scooby..The film's screenplay could have come from the cartoons, and the film includes many of the cartoon-inspired gags like pratfalls, manic chases, characters "instantly" having a disguise on, seeing hearts when they have a crush on someone.. the full blown "light of the silvery moon" musical sequence may capture some of the "Glee"-zeitgeist of today, as well as the psychedelic-pop closing number..for the college-aged (and older) guys out there, yes, Daphne and Velma are very attractive..Lastly, Scooby-Doo "purists" who have balked at the changes to the heretofore blonde Fred and Caucasian Velma should lighten up-- it's been 40+ years since the first cartoons premiered, and the mythos were ripe for a slight reinterpretation. Enjoy with scooby-snacks at hand.
