Elaine "Ellie" Harrison has just moved from Minnesota to Annapolis, Maryland while her parents take a year-long sabbatical to continue their medieval studies in nearby Washington D.C. Her new high school, Avalon High, seems like a typical high school with the stereotypical students: Lance the jock, Jennifer the cheerleader, Marco, the bad boy/desperado, and Will, the senior class president, quarterback, and all around good guy. But not everyone at Avalon High is who they appear to be, not even Ellie herself. Eventually, it becomes apparent that Avalon High is a situation where the ancient Arthurian legend is repeating itself.

In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.

This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.

I stumbled on this one after reading Britt Robertson's biography. Britt plays the lead role of Allie Pennington.Being a television movie and a Disney Channel one at that, I didn't expect much, but what a surprise.Very well acted, funny, lots of action especially near the end, a bit of romance and general all round good fun. I really liked Allie Pennington's parents played by Don Lake and Ingrid Park, they did a very good job and made me smile each time they were on screen.A great movie that all ages could watch, no over the top violence to speak of and the sword fighting is quite well done.I haven't read the book that this is based on so can't say whether it is true to the book or not, but based on some of the reviews by reviewers who have it doesn't do the book justice. I can not comment on that, I liked the movie for itself. It stands on its own. Well done Disney Channel.Highly recommended and I would very likely watch this again, it is a feel good movie.

I don't review unless it's a 10 in my viewpoint, and I give this a 10. I haven't read the book, but that shouldn't matter. I think of books and movies as separate, especially if it's a TV show. This movie, unlike what some others say, is not THAT predictable. I was so sure Will was the reincarnation of King Arthur and Marco was Mordred. The dream-scenes in the beginning with Allie meant nothing to me, I didn't understand them at all. So, I didn't think she'd be King Arthur.Out of topic, but it would be nice if Disney did a medieval-theme movie that is sweet and family-friendly and not too much fighting at all. Uh, I love female main characters, so it'd be nice too if the main character was a girl.Anyway, back on the movie, I enjoyed it. It was a different DCOM, and I liked that. I think it's the people who are very used to serious style movies and overboard drama (like Pretty Little Liars, which my sisters watch) that hate most of the new Disney (2010-onwards Disney stuff). This movie wasn't cheesy. It was clearly serious, in a mild fashion way.

As many others have said, this movie is an atrocious adaptation of the Meg Cabot book by the same title. The worst part is, if you love the book, the movie seems to be following the same general plot. I was really impressed with Disney's dedication to the original book, with a few additional characters, until the last 15 minutes. I won't say why since many other reviews have done so, but if you love the book please save yourself from the heartbreak of watching Disney destroy this novel. If you haven't read the book, I'd suggest giving it a chance. It's an excellent teen novel for fantasy lovers with a true Arthurian twist!

I watched this movie when it premiered, and immediately fell in love with it. I had liked Gregg Sulkin on Wizards of Waverly Place, and figured I'd like him here, too. In fact, the whole cast played their parts perfectly. When you think about it, most of the made for TV movies Disney make are about high school life, or based after TV shows. Avalon High, however, is different. It is refreshing and fun. It is not at all like the book, but I actually like the movie better. Avalon High is probably the best movie I have ever seen. The whole King Arthurian times idea is a good one. There aren't many movies about Camelot for kids, so I was glad this movie had the King Arthur premise, but in a version children will enjoy watching. I learned all I know about Camelot, King Arthur, and the whole time frame from this movie. Avalon High is good family fun for everyone. I highly recommend it with ten stars.
