a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.

One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.

I recorded this on VHS a few years ago as it was on TV and the reason is because I am a sucker for Rom coms so I decided to check it out.The movie is kind of a rip off of Chasing Liberty where you've got a president's daughter who falls in love with a guy who is a secret agent.Katie Holmes(aka Mrs Tom Cruise) plays Sam a young girl who's dad is the president of the United States (aka Micheal Keaton). She is sick of being stuck in the white house she decides to move to college and become a normal teenager. She meets a guy named James(Marc Blucas) who is smitten with but what she doesn't know is that he is a secret agent in disguise so that he can keep a close eye on her for the president. The cast is OK,I don't really like Katie Holmes who is too sly and not very friendly, Marc Blucas is hot in this movie as a secret agent,Micheal Keaton as a president OMG they should have gave it to Ralph Fiennes, the music was alright, the chemistry between Blucas & Holmes was nice and sweet. The only downside I have to this movie is the horrible ending as she drove off in her Volkswagon Bettle and you hear the narrator saying and she will return in the spring and James will wait for her but thats another story, I thought she'd kiss James and live happily ever after but NO the stupid people who came up with it wanted to give it a crap ending that will put us to sleep (zzzzzzzzzzz). Best scene was that dance (just the way you look tonight)which I truly enjoyed and the rest of the movie was great but not Oscar worthy but the stupid beeping ending was awful. For the film a 5/10 for the stupid ending 1/10

This film is about the president's daughter going into college. Hilarity ensues as she tries to fit normalcy in her life with a special status."First Daughter" is predictable, but it is enjoyable. Katie Holmes is convincing enough as the president's daughter. The twist about James being someone other than a student comes as a surprise, it is delivered in an effective way. I actually feel Samantha's pain and disappointment after the revelation! The jokes mainly come from her special status, such as the secret agents intervening the first party. Though they are predictable and silly, but the jokes work. It is light hearted and cheerful, though not as memorable as "Legally Blonde" which is rather similar. I think it makes a good choice for some brain off entertainment.

Samantha; the Presidents daughter is off to college and finds the stress of being the First Dauhter extremely hard and she ends up meeting James.James shows Samantha a world she has never seen or experienced only for it to broken when she finds out James real agenda in 'hanging' around her.He is a federal agent, protecting her.The film is a charming film brilliantly directed by Forest Whitaker.Katie Holmes plays the role of the good girl perfectly while Blucas shines as the agent. (Similar to a role he played in Buffy the Vampire Slayer) Michael Keaton is very funny as the President and father; while Amerie adds spice to the sweet mannered movie.

Samantha Mackenzie, (Katie Holmes) plays the role of a President's daughter who has to live under the close rules of the White House and has Secret Agents always at her elbows no matter what she does and really has no life of her own. Michael Keaton, (President Mackenzie) is a good President and loves his family but like any President he has very little time to spend with this wife or daughter. James Lansome, (Marc Blucas) is a Secret Agent who is Samantha's special body guard and after being with her for quite a few years, begins to fall in love with her and does not seem to realize what is happening. However, Samantha feels a great warmth growing inside of her whenever she see James Lansome and a spark starts to become a flame between the two of them. There is some behind the scenes between these two lovers and all kinds of problems come between Samantha and James. This story is very realistic as I am sure many such things have happened in the White House with quite a few First Daughter's. Enjoy.
