Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.

Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

Forgive the pun, but Matthew Goode made all the difference between this film and "First Daughter" with Katie Holmes and Mark Blucas which are basically exactly the same in terms of plot. I believe "Chasing Liberty" came out first although in the same year (2004).The stunning locations in which they filmed Chasing Liberty can not be overlooked: Venice is a real treat in any movie, but add a bit of innocence and romance and you have a winning formula. Prague is absolutely beautiful, the epitome of European architecture and the excellence of Austrian country side goes without saying. To all this add Berlin and London and you can't go wrong. An excellent mixture in the cast between Americans and British, special note to the ones playing Italian characters, they did a superb job. So, location, cast, and script are all superb, but Matthew Goode with his boyish charm, sexy accent and wonderful good looks took it all. I totally agree with a previous reviewer, that he can go on to become a real star and easily fill in the shoes of the next Bond when Daniel Craig tires of it. And what a Bond he would make!! To all the girls out there, watch Chasing Liberty with your girlfriends, not boyfriends. You will truly enjoy this light chick flick and sigh to your hearts content.

Anna Foster(Mandy Moore) is the teenage daughter of President James Foster(Mark Harmon) and First Lady Michelle Foster(Caroline Goodall) who's not too happy with the Secret Service agents interfering in her personal life. Thus, when the First Family heads to Europe for work, Anna wants to cut loose with her old friend, Gabrielle. She is more than happy to help Anna protection, which includes Weiss(Jeremy Piven) and Morales(Annabella Sciorra) and escape. She does so by getting a ride from a British photographer Ben Calder(Matthew Goode), who actually is an undercover agent assigned to protect her. When the President learns that Anna is with Ben, he orders that the agent continue his act and try to present himself as a new friend so that she can experience some freedom, but in a controlled fashion. As the two make their way across Europe, accompanied by McGruff(Martin Hancock), with Weiss and Morales trying to track them down and flirting themselves during that course of time, Anna and Ben start to develop feelings for one another. As love sparks, both must reveal their true identities to each other, that takes the movie to the next level. Good music, especially Who Needs by Jason Mraz and good locales make the movie worth watching.

I am a sucker for a good, sappy, romantic comedy. I have always liked Mandy Moore (especially in "A Walk to Remember") and I thought she was pretty good in this.Nothing that will make you think which is nice if you're looking for a fun girly movie. My only complaints are that the movie dragged a bit long for this type of movie... could've cut out some of the chase scenes. But I liked the different places they went, those are such beautiful areas of the world and the movie reminded me of my trip to Europe when I was in college. If you're looking for something deep or an epic romance, this is not for you. But if you want something good to watch on a night home alone or with girlfriends, this is a great pick.

Entertaining teen flick about the daughter of the President of the USA. This girl is not spoiled or snobby, no, so there's not the typical cliché. The problem with her is that she can't enjoy her liberty at full because all of the events that surround her father's "Job".Everything changes for her when she travels to Europe and decides to escape to chase her liberty. She there meets one of her father's private investigators and there a typical movie romance starts. But the events of the movie are really entertaining and also suggest a message for those girls who are chasing their liberty or whatever.I caught this movie on HBO about two years ago and I enjoyed it pretty much mainly because of Mandy Moore's unique on-screen charisma and her beauty. Also, the story has enough elements to be considered as entertaining and funny.I recommend this movie for those who can enjoy light humor and some clichés from teen flicks.
