A Disappointing Continuation

It was OK. I don't see why everyone loves it so much. It wasn't very smart or deep or well-directed.

This movie was so good for the first 45 minutes, I almost wept when the second half went all to hell.Few movies capture the seedy underbelly of New York City in as raw a way. Parts of this movie look almost like they were filmed guerrilla- style. Indeed, in that respect, "Mulberry Street" hearkens back to the glorious '80s films of Frank Hennenlotter.Alas, this is no "Basket Case" or "Brain Damage." Because although director Jim Mickle imbues the film with the same gritty, neon-lit, back-alley feel characteristic of Hennenlotter, his failure is that while Hennenlotter expertly married the surrealism of real-life Manhattan with his bizarre stories and creations, this film, while showing that kind of promise early on, unfortunately has so little confidence in itself it devolves quickly and quite unfortunately into B-movie idiocy.The conceit is wonderful -- a new rat-borne disease is turning New Yorkers into flesh-eating zombies.Wouldn't a "28 Days Later" set in NYC and directed by Frank Hennenlotter be awesome? Keep hoping. Because although it looks like it's going that way for the first half, then the rat people show up.Yes, this rat-borne disease not only makes people zombies, it freakin' turns them into rat people.Ridiculous, pointy-eared, pointy-toothed rat people who squeak like rats and scurry about the floor on all fours.I wanted to weep, seriously weep, halfway through this movie, because when the first rat person showed up after 45 minutes of Hennenlotteresque gritty New York cinematography, interesting camera-work and real, untrained New Yorkers as actors, it felt like I'd found a real super-cool, smart, pretty and sassy girlfriend, and just learned too late she had the clap.Man this one looked like it was gonna be a real good one, too. What a disappointment.

In this film we follow a group of residents of a neighborhood from New York. One of them is bitten by a creature who resembles with a mutilated rat and soon the infection spreads and many habitants becomes like zombies and are trying to eat the one who are healthy,My expectation were very slim for this movie but after all it wasn't bad not good but mediocre. The camera work at some points was truly awful and dizzy. The acting was unusual for a bunch of unknown actors, I wonder if some of them really are actors after all. The scary scenes are few are easy to digest, also boring at some point but with that low budget they made the maximum that it could be. So my conclusion is that the film is amateurish at all chapters.

After a viral outbreak in New York, a small band of survivors finds the streets overrun by a ravenous swarm of mutated rat-like beings and tries to escape from their clutches before becoming like them.This is an incredibly underwhelming and really unremarkable effort. Among the numerous flaws here is the fact that this one is just not all that exciting overall, as the first half here is just not all that enjoyable. The fact that the virus comes so late into this one that means it spend a large portion of time with the rather boring family and their friends in the apartment just yakking about their daily lives which is not all that interesting to start this one off. This makes for plenty of tired scenes that really seem to make this one quite bland all throughout the first half as there's just no real horror during these scenes and really takes a toll on getting this one going. Of course, there's little to be done in here for the rather haphazard editing in the action scenes which shake with such frequency it's impossible to tell what's going on. Jumping around and shaking throughout here, this is utterly impossible to really see clearly which really makes for a troubling time during the action segments which are what you want to be able to give a clear look at for viewers when combined with the boredom as well as really helping to overwhelm the few positives within. The attacks by the creatures are a lot of fun as they're effectively made into threats so the diner encounter, the frantic escape in to the sewers and the series of battles on the street make for some exciting times due rot their savageness and ferocity. These are especially useful on display during the massive attack while barricaded in the apartment complex which is all sorts of fun throughout this, getting in some great action along with some suspense and jumps along the way. This also gets in some good points with the special effects for the creatures looking decent enough when we can see them and a couple nice bloody deaths, but overall can't quite overcome the massive, problematic flaws.Rated R: Graphic Violence and Graphic Language.

Mulberry Street (2006) here in the UK for some odd reason its' called Zombie Virus on Mulberry street (2006), Even the movie titled is Mulberry street , don't get the point of that at all. (I worse think about it their NOT Zombies they are infected)I have seen this movie few times now, I really liked it, People are attacked by Rats but not killed only bitten by then. When you did get bitten by then you will turn into blood-thirsty rat creatures, , I really enjoyed this movie. I loved how transformation was slowly and you get tell how they change and the transformation was really good but there could have been a bit better. I don't think the movie was too gory, the attack can be a bit bloody at times, I did expect it to be a bit more gory The make up effect were really good in this movie, Rats attack was really good and Human-Rats were did look scary at times. Ending of this movie was really good really good but very sad in this movie, kind of the whole movie feel very depressing.Great acting from the whole cast 7 out of 10
