Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.

This movie did an excellent job of depicting the harsh life for people of Mexico. I wish with all my heart they could get rid of the corruption and crime and become productive like the US. Until then, they will risk life and limb crossing into the US to find a better life. This movie was well written, well acted and I am certain very accurate in portraying the circumstances many have been subjected to while crossing into the US.The movie doesn't really intend to get political but it does show more than Mexican people trying to make it to the US. Pay attention to what occurs in the desert as the coyote is waiting for the van to pick up the group of people.Ed Harris did an excellent job of portraying a man who lost his wife to a bad situation and still managed to be honest and fair.If you are like me, and appreciate people who are good, decent, and honest, you will probably let out a whoop of joy at the very end.Enjoy!

For most, I don't know if the story will warrant the high score that I give it but for me it does. Its very relevant to the times. The struggle with what is right, what you could just let happen (wrong) and the crime story behind it all is very interesting to me.The old sheriff is true to his morals. He pursues the story to its end. I am not sure if Ed Harris is my favorite, but he is good in this. Michael P is just great. Some of the film is almost too hard to watch. The struggles of folks represented are just awful. Something to keep in mind when topics about these folks come up.

This a truly great film. It shows what people are capable of. For the good and for the bad. I not understand that this film is not quoted higher on IMDb. The story is simple, but acting is top not, every character is believable. It also works on different layers. It is a crime story, a tensed thriller, and even although the hard images, also surprisingly a "feel good movie". And it has a message, how bad people can be, there is always hope, when there are also people, who do the "right thing". When all you see in the movies today, is digital effects, really nonsense, action that goes so fast that you not even can follow what is happening, this is what cinema is all about, good story, that keeps you on the edge of your seat, about what is going to be happening next.

Two Mexicans trying to cross the border are implicated in a murder they didn't commit. The film follows the fallout as the dead woman's husband pieces together the mystery of who was responsible for her murder. This is an excellently played and filmed modern day western drama which thankfully steers clear of many of the obvious clichés and is never predictable. The intelligent script sparkles and is helped by a superb cast led by Ed Harris, Michael Pena and Eva Longeria all of whom put in superb performances. The ending for me was a little rushed and disappointing and therefore it just falls short of a great movie in my opinion. This is just a personal opinion though and for others it may work out fine. Frontera is a good addition to the modern western genre and well worth watching.
