It's hard to see any effort in the film. There's no comedy to speak of, no real drama and, worst of all.

Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

The FBI is after mob boss Pops Romano (Peter Falk). Leo Corrigan (Fred Ward) is his right hand man but also FBI's secret informant. Pops' violent sons illiterate Paulie (Peter Berg) and secretly gay Peter (Chris Penn) work closely with him. Pops decides to plant his estrange son Corky (Chris Kattan) as a mole inside the FBI. Corky is a clueless, bumbling veterinarian who was kicked out of the home after his mother's death. A hacker gives him the false identity of FBI agent Pissant. His bumbling ways start solving cases which impresses FBI director Howard Shuster (Richard Roundtree). Agent Kate Russo (Vinessa Shaw) is on the case. Agent Brick Davis (Matthew Glave) is suspicious of Corky. This is stupid but not stupid enough to be truly funny. Corky is not necessarily that likable although he does grow on me. The set up for the plot is bad. It doesn't make sense that the informant Leo doesn't tell the FBI especially since he's the one who suggests Corky. Leo should not know anything about Corky infiltrating the FBI. It might improve if Corky is stupider and the story less stupid. The writing is bad all over. Corky could have worked as a character but not in this movie.

This is a great movie that is filled to brimming with many funny jokes about all kinds of things you can think of. It is so enjoyable that it resembles a familiar touch on the back from a kindly relative in a time of need. I thought it was really great in a way (but in all ways). The music is one of the best things about the film but also the direction and editing is a phenomenon. This movie is about Corky Romano, a little gay man who becomes an FBI agent to fight crime. But get this you, his family is all criminals which makes a nice twist on the usual. It's a very funny film that will make you laugh your pants.

Pops Romano has had a long career as a mobster but the FBI has seemingly build a strong case against him and it looks like either jail or stress will claim his last few years on earth. His sons are helpless to do anything and really they need someone to go undercover in the FBI and destroy the evidence. However none of them can do this as they are all known to the FBI, meaning that Pops must turn to his long-rejected son Corky for help. Currently working at a vets, Corky feels he has been welcomed back into the family and accepts the mission to get a fake ID and go in as a special agent. However can the rather simple Corky manage to get the evidence before he blows it.Despite having lots of recognisable faces in the cast, this is a very basic and dumb comedy that draws few laughs from many contrived setups and the type of humour that peaks with a man farting. The plot involves a mobsters son going undercover in the FBI (see what they did there) and suffice to say that this isn't going to rival Infernal Affairs in regards plotting or tension. It isn't really rubbish but it is certainly not any good whatsoever, although it may amuse those with low demands and expectations. The comedy is very basic and childish and even the John Woo spoof is wasted. Teenage boys may find it funny but the majority of casual viewers will barely amused and rarely laugh. The cast don't help the material although some should know better. Kattan is one big flailing, gurning mess from start to finish and he comes over like a poor man's Ernest. Shaw can barely contain her loathing in a thankless role alongside him. Berg and Penn deserve so much more than this but at least they have fun in minor clichéd roles. Ward and Falk should know better and neither have anything to do that justifies them lowering themselves to this level. Roundtree, Pastore, Glave and others are all wasted too.Overall this is a poor comedy that has few laughs and nothing of real interest. It aims low and I suppose for some audiences it will be enough that it hits those low targets. However for the majority of viewers this will be far too pointless, puerile and unfunny to be worth even 90 minutes of time.

I had been reading some of the reviews over here and I actually wondered what is wrong about this movie. I mean, the outcast son of a mafia family going undercover for the FBI is just kind of hilarious. Corky Romano really lives up to his name.He was actually this vet but then one day he was being summoned by his family that he has to be an undercover FBI agent (along with fake identity and all that) to destroy whatever evidence the FBI has on his father. But maybe whether is it a nasty coincidence or not, when Corky is now being part of the FBI, his first assignment is on his family's case. At times, his inconsistencies almost appeared in front of his fellow colleagues and it's really funny. But end up, he became the hero in solving the case. Now, comedies are actually meant for some laughs. Or else the purpose will never be there. I do like it actually when I saw it few days back here on the television.
